Glad to see someone applying a little 'engineering' to grading. For some of us a solid objective foundation is necessary. Eventually an artist makes it beautiful. But the composition of the elements- the spatial elements, color elements, and luma elements- is not an accident or whim. So many tutorials are really exercises in, "I'll add a little more here; ok; I'm liking that!" That drives me nuts.

I am wondering how a bad white balance or off color recording should be tackled with this workflow. I.e. should the adjustments to get to a good color base be done before converting the colors to wide gamut or should they be done after the conversion to wide gamut colors? Also if one works with a color chart, wouldn't correcting for the color chart throw off this conversion to wide gamut?

How do we get that Colloid DCTL pack?
@CullenKelly9 ай бұрын
I discontinued Colloid a year or two ago, but I have a new in-depth toolset coming out shortly. My newsletter will get all the details first, so if you grab one of my freebies (or if you already have) you’ll be on that list.

Amazing content! I'm a complete begginer, my question may seems stupid but how do you get the ARRI IN and ARRI OUT stills?

Hello, I am an amateur and there's a thing that I still don't understand properly even if I warched tons of your videos. To do the color transform pipeline, is it enough to do it from the project settings (even with different camera sources) or it has to be done even in the clip menu with the nodes as you show here? Cheers!

Thank you for the lesson. But to my regret, I only learned in your lesson that there is such a thing in the DVR as DCTL. I've read about it, but I still don't understand why you are using DCTL to work with Exposure? And how do you decide the balance of exposure, how much exposure is needed? You haven't shown a single Scope. How do I know if I have the correct exposure or not? (Sorry for this text, it was all written by Google Translator)))

Hey this was really cool to see! So I have been a working editor for about 7 years now and ofc a lot of my work involves correcting and matching shots in a sequence, but I would have to say that this lesson on exposure/contrast has me a bit lost. You started by saying that it is important to have the objective understanding of exposure/contrast when it comes to the initial pass on an image, but with the shot given in your example I wasn't sure if "taking a shot -.75 down" was specific to your shot or to exposure in general. Your luma curves (what I am used to looking at for exposure/contrast) wasn't open so it was unclear to me what the goal was of bringing down your exposure in this shot. But overall this is a great project and I hope you make more!

When it is being taught, it must be taught completely or not. You place some composite nodes without explaining how you do them by throwing the rest of the information that you can give to the ground because whoever sees you is probably without adequate knowledge and you must be explicit. Cheers

@@CullenKelly you're welcome, very good videos, could you explain another thing from where the ofx dctl list comes from. thanks

@@CullenKelly Yes, thank you very much, you did not know this ofx and it seems super useful. I'm going to see if I can get something because I don't know how to install. Very kind to answer me! I'm still on your channel very good, I hope more about this function blessings

@@CullenKelly All right would be nice, I got some free ones from Paul Dore baldavenger because I do not know the subject to pay for them as what you use. Maybe if I manage to handle them well, I will be encouraged to buy. thanks

After stumbling across one of your tutorials I was excited to see more. Love your teaching style but damn…. The tedious background music on this vid (hopefully not others) is just loud and repetitive enough to keep me from focusing and (IMO) ruins your presentation. Please do not destroy anymore work with is trash overlay. Your smooth mellow voice doesn’t need the competition.
