What a informative piece, I adore jewellery, collecting old - “preloved” . I found a pendant for my daughter, that spells “ dearest “ . This will be given to her on her 21st birthday . Every year on her birthday I find a piece and put it away for her . As I’ve made her a glory box of jewellery . From amber , jet and greenstone ; Which falls in line with opal . Never to be purchased by oneself . My husband has always hunting pre-loved jewellery for me . The first I received on my wedding day ,a pair of wedding bangles . I adore the romance behind it . There so much left to learn. Thank you .

Sorry, so many questions. What is the name of the spinner ring with daisy & pansy & door detail that Dr Johnson saw at The British Museum (the museum is a 15 min walk from my home & I've never seen but maybe I can request a view when the museum re-opens). Thank you. X

P. S. Forgot to ask. Has Dr Johnson published any books I can buy on Victorian /medieval gemstone meanings? Thank you.

The Kooh-e-noor is Persian in origin, not Indian. The name translates to "Mountain of Light" in Farsi.

"while she weeps she devours" forgive me what does that mean?

The context a jewelers ad. So when looking at it we can see a women in morning for a loved one. While she shops or perhaps these are suitors. Yet she continues to admire the jewelry despite anything else. "She devours" A feast for the eyes.

Diamonds are overrated I hate that it’s my birthstone. I like deep reds, blues, greens but my favorites are opals & varieties of iridescent opals/gemstones. Also some smokey greys with other slight tones & impurities within it. I think it makes it nicer

Hi I have recently purchased at auction a piece of Pawtucket Rhode Island history and I'm looking to find more information on it it is a guard chain made in the mid 1860s of what appears to be 10 karat gold but could just be high carat 9k it is a handmade chainmail and is about 61 in + 70 G I need any information you can give me on Fuller and sons in that time. Or perhaps where this thing could have come from thanks

I don't buy jewellery to impress the world. To me it's an absolute inner choice and feeling. Unfortunately in this mega capitalistic world I can't effort pieces I believe they deserve me.

I don’t understand why this woman isn’t using a slide presentation on a projector screen like come on why is she holding up these little cards with these tiny little images? What she doing this in 1985 or something? Like get with the times. Had to stop watching this after first card came out. Children in elementary schools do slide presentations. Are you serious? I can’t believe this.

The acoustics are horrible and that woman needs to get out more. Everything radiates at its own vibrational level, which is why stones endear themselves to the wearer.(or not) The choice of metal also played in ones reception of what we jewelers call 'a piece'. Gold is more malleable and melts at a lower point as opposed to silver. Gold is a masculine metal and silver, feminine. True, colors play a important part but if you look hard enough you'll find what you're looking for in the stone you want. IE; white sapphire, pink diamond, black pearl, etc.
