From Igbo perspective, you are advised to uproot yourself from this situationship, count your losses and move on with your life. If you stay with him for the next 10 years, he will drop some interesting lines of excuses such as "my mother wants me to marry someone from our village", "my family doesn't approve our getting married", etc. Also get therapy and learn to value yourself more, and get less passionate about marriage. You only get high quality spouse if you slow down and are willing to leave relationships if it's not working for you after 6 to 12 months. There is no scarcity of good men but you can't see them if you are busy servicing unserious men who are pretending to be serious. Evil men make women baby mamas so that those women will be bound to them forever without any commitment.

Great topic Bree. Ladies should be intentional with their choices and boundaries. Always pause and evaluate the consequences of your choice. This will help you to gain clarity in your decisions. Even TV Judge Judy says 'stop playing housewife and think you'd get a wife's benefit etc when it goes south.' Most times the lady loses more than the guy in this situations. Be wise!

Ladies, remember this when a guy says, “Let’s move in together.” First, he’s thinking, “Why pay for the cow when I can get the milk?”🤷🏽‍♀️ Secondly, he’s trying to control you, your movements, and who can talk to you, while he’s out there with so many options.🙄 Thirdly, he’s trying to cut costs, with you paying part of the bills. A real man don’t need a woman to pay his bills. In addition to that, some men are not domesticated, you are coming in to continue from where his mom and sisters stopped. At what cost to you? Please let’s be guided.🙏

A woman holds the key to sex/child birth and a man holds the key to marriage. He needs her to sacrifice hers while he holds onto his with his life. That man won't marry her, he seems to be stalling with hopes to meet his wife with time.

I’m in my 20s, very open minded and understanding but no matter the time that goes on, If a woman desires marriage, it is a bad idea to move in with a man before marriage. I’m completely against it. As for this specific situation, she should move out and move on. For any man, especially a man from a cultural background like africa to mention a child before marriage, he’s not responsible and doesn’t want to marry you. He says he will take his time on the marriage but is ok with the responsibility of a child now? A child is an even bigger responsibility and intentionally having one before knowing a relationship is secure is a disaster. He doesn’t need more than two years.

Pls move out if you have already did. He is a time waster. Rebrand yourself and give him time limits to make up his mind on what he wants in the relationship. If nothing serious is fort coming... move on ...pls do not waste your time further

My honest advice to this lady is that she should move out of the shared apartment. Get her own apartment. Make the relationship as mere friendship as possible. Don't visit too much. He didn't propose, so what is your hope with this man. He definitely has his own plan, which doesn't seem to include this lady. I doubt if he has plans to marry her. My opinion is that no no to living together before marriage. She should respect herself.

I think he’s using her as a stepping stone. He knows by living with her he gets free sex and pays less in bills which will give him enough financial resource to support his fam back home. It’s a win win for him.. She just needs to reset her expectations and draw the line firmly on it and ALWAYS be prepared to walk away if he dot meet those expectations… simples. The guy definitely has ulterior motives, and the lady is not included in them. Nigerian people know the value of marriage and having children IN wedlock. This guy wants an heir through this woman but not for her to be his queen. The lady better pack up and move out fast! Don’t even give him an ultimatum b/c he’s already shown his true feelings towards her.
