Traps & Treasure is a very Amiga platformer & that’s a good thing. BOBO is an absolute gem & one every Amiga fan absolutely should play. Captain Blood is awesome, it takes a bit of working out to get a handle on the alphabet but it’s so worth it & keep in mind, I’m dyslexic & I enjoyed it. Soldier 2000 was ambitious & actually quite fun. Worth a look. As you know these videos always give me suggestions for new stuff to play & yet you’ve made it to part 9. Shows there was a lot of great games for the platform. Great video again, I always enjoy the mad little tangent you go off on out of nowhere, mid video. Thanks. 😄

Traps'n'Treasures got a very limited English release and was majorly available in German. Which is not an issue if you remember what it is, just a platformer, but could be a deterrent from purchasing for those who cared for the plot (as insignificant as it was). Captain Blood is my personal discovery with this video. I didn't expect to be surprised, and I was. The scope alone of what you could do in a game was breathtaking. I mean, not on Frontier levels, but not far off. :) Oh, I've barely scratched the Public Domain surface, and these were widely unknown. And I may eventually jump on that PD train. And as always, thank you for your kind words! :)

Traps N' Treasures is what platformers on Amiga should be. Big levels, exploration, upgrades, using items. Something between platformer and adventure game. Also the pixel art is pure Amiga using of what A500 is capable of. I also like the unique sound of the music in the game. Not some stock samples but original tone to it. People were crying about big franchises from consoles but overlooked such gems like TnT, Ruff n' Rumble, Yo Joe. There are plenty of platformers on Amiga that could be called console style, but TnT is beyond overused mechanics and samey gameplay.

@@mattx5499 I agree. Traps'n'Treasures is a hidden gem if there ever was one. And it plays as good today as it did back then. Also, the active music system is probably used here first, before it was widely popular on PC. Yo! Joe! is the only co-op platformer I can think of. And it's a pity as it's a wonderful mechanic that could be used more often and it makes the game infinitely more playable.

@@mattx5499 True but it was also on C64. So it was not exclusively Amiga or 16bit title. Interestingly enough it was one of the first 3 games that I ever saw on the Amiga.

Traps'n'Treasure definitely seems like a top tier game of the era. That game would've been loved and got 10 sequels if it was released on the Mega Drive or SNES in 1993.

I saw Captain Blood on youtube a few years ago and have become kind of obsessed with it. I really want to think of game mechanics for a more faithful sequel than Commander Blood was.

I used to play Bobo with the very strange sound fx, made me laugh. Persian gulf inferno was good to let off a bit of steam! The enemies shouting at you between gunfire was pretty satisfying. I tried captain blood but did not get far at all but it looks like its worth another go. The others, never heard of! Cheers for the sweet video👍

I've played the winter and summer olympics games back in the day, but never the prison olympics. Bobo sounds like fun, I'll have to try it out. Regarding the Bruce Lee inspired stuff, I'd be more interested in a Drunken master style of vs fighter. That's my favourite martial arts movie.
@OldAndNewVideoGames

There were soooooo many different "olympics" style games over the years... Not all great, mind you, but most had at least couple of disciplines fun and worth playing. It is a very special kind of a game though, that is incredibly fun with others, but feels kinda pointless alone. :/ Drunken Master, eh? It is very dance-like in its own way. Also, Virtua Fighter, I believe there was a Drunken Master there in the 2nd outing. :)
