Entrancing music and lyrics. The repetitions of words, like taking a breath of fresh air at a steady slow phase. It put me to rest, when my body was tense. The simplicity met complexity at Observatory. It put me to rest. Like a bird high up in the sky below me was a Crest. Where an Observatory put me to rest.

@ImprintsMedia Ummm Observatory Crest kind of Look-Out Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennesse.;-) THIS is a most magnificent song. The melody goes right with the 'as you say'; Poetic-lyrics. My heart sings as I recall some memories that 'this tune ignited'. POWERFUL messages in the Captain's gifts to humanity. What a BEing. So happy that these gifts are here for sharing; I thank the Special BEing that sent this my way today. He had shared Beefheart before BUT this GEM I cherish more. Namaste'

There is something captivating about the captain, something so magical that has you in it's spell... He's like Tom Waits, more than a musician. More than the lyrics and the songs, a presence and gravitas that has you in it's spell. You're not a fan of the Captains, you become a part of him...

I've always loved this song, and many other Beefheart songs. With my new speakers the atmospheric quality of the production is really coming through even more. So, I'm thinking he was trying to write a Dreampop song. I'm not sure to what lever it was actually a genre at that time. I hadn't heard of it.

'Ice Cream' was a truly great way to finish his music career - not many pull something quite so new and brilliant out of the bag for their last. Any contenders?
