AWESOME I currently have one (aka Doris) done a fair bit to mine to improve its woeful brakes and suspension along with a few improvement mods. Got a full Brembo brake set up, 320mm disc's M4 calipers and the RCS master cylinder = Amazing stopping power, then to improve the rear gone for a rear thumb brake. For suspension upgrades I've got the original Ohlins FG330 (perfect fitment and better handling and then no requirement for spacers for calipers) and a Nitron rear race spec shock. Then for engine mods I've put in a full sigma slipper clutch (the 08 model fits with a slight modification to the clutch cover) and was lucky a few years ago to get my hands on a Vivaldi BSB head and cams from one of there works bikes, now running 168BHP at rear wheel 😁 Doris is now my full time track bike 😁 Look forward to seeing the mods and riding episodes.

God, I had one of these, about 13 years ago. I wasn’t up to it and it was too much for a rider with one years experience. But I’d love another one like this.

As I have already said I have the c2h ,it does exactly what it says on the tin......😁🤪,ferocious is the right description of this full on beast!!!! Try reading the bennets buyers guide on a gn 1 zx10r if your not familiar (this is aimed at watchers not the maker of the videos. I have a quick action throttle on mine and it a good mod. These videos are what any sensible bike owner should do with older bikes so they LAST preventative maintenance, that's the key...unfortunately not everyone is as clued up as yer man .Great stuff ...more please

The previous owner obviously looked after this bike. My chains always last the life of the bike (my ownership), cleaned and lubed after every ride and correctly adjusted at all times… helps to be a fair weather rider as well.

Best bike I ever had. Had 3 gen 1s and have done a lot of miles on them.. and have to say I didn't find the handling flighty at all, in fact very stable, wheelies and all... still had various steering dampers fitted I'll admit but not for long periods and all kinds of riding, whereas a cbr600rr I had was twitchy as hell. Have also had 2 gen 3s and now a gen 4.

I am so going to love watching this series Dave, unfortunately I traded my zx10r in for a 2017 gsxr 1000 in March this year, and I'm so missing it. Always wanted one when they first came out but got my first one in 2006 brand new old stock £7k unfortunately I blew the engine doing a high speed wheelie. Lesson learnt I did a deal and got another brand new old stock just run in I got hit whilst stationary at a set of lights, finally got the bike back but was smoking on overrun, bore glazed cylinder 4 got the bike back again and had some great times, eventually sold as needed the money but a couple of years later my mate sold me his one which I had to march, absolutely awesome bike but overlooked by most as the fireblade and R1 of the time were a less nervous. My current gsxr is so much easier to ride quickly but doesn't give anything like the same fun factor of the zx10.

I also have an 05 with 102,xxx miles runs strong with no issues. True about the retainers, did a valve clearance check early on and found 6 in total were cracked and failing. You will not know this is happening until you drop a valve. Swapped them all for the 06 set no issues. But yeah wouldn't sell it for anything.

I had a question. Do ZX10R 04 ECU need to be calibrated ? I mean the engine when it’s turn on it’s not as smooth idling like on 07 bikes n earlier. Is it ECU making or is it injectors or ECU needs calibrated or is it bc it don’t have an oxygen sensor ?
