Every time you say, “an old Suzuki”, God kills a kitten. It reminds me of Bono being onstage doing a slow clap, and saying, “Every time I clap, a child in Africa dies!” Someone shouted out, “Well stop f*cking clapping then!” An absolutely useless bit of trivia for you 😂

I'm pretty sure this is an urban legend - I'd love to see some proof that this actually happened.

Funny...old Suzuki is a euphemism for real Suzuki, form a time when men were men and sheep were scared.

Similar problems on my GSXR1100G, now I’ve got it all back together and looking nice it won’t start and the choke lever won’t stay engaged…? Want to cry 😢 I used ratchet straps to engage the rubber manifolds properly. The GSX is already looking really nice. 😊

All old bikes seem to be similar to work on, Suzuki and Kawasaki aren't that bad.....generally. You wait until current bikes get to over 40 years old 😮

Doubtful many modern water boilers will last that long , they are mostly treated like a set of golf clubs or a canoe , bought out when it’s sunny then put away . I grew up,on old worn out English motorcycles, my first jap bike was a two stroke , easy to work on ,easy to swap parts across models ( especially SUZUKI ) the electronic infested motorcycles that have been released this year put me off even further, ABS,suspension control, blah. veteran tip : The GX1100 EFE engine will go straight in that 750 frame if you remove the cam cover and one of the exhaust camshaft caps , the aftermarket for these (gs1150) engines is second to none despite being out of production for 39 years these engines are still dominating race tracks globally.

really crap trying to get these old airboxes to fit nicely on the carbs, what I've seen on the owners groups is people jigging up the airbox on the bench , and using bungees and ratchet straps and heat, they pull back open the centre of the airbox so that it fits much nicer, this may be worth a try.

Your clutch cable route is not quite correct, it goes down between No1 and No2 exhaust rubber you should a clip which connects under the rocker bolt and have a loop hook for the cable, I'm trying to send you pictures of mine plus workshop manual routing of wiring you tube won't let me

Thanks. I think we re routed it about 20 times before it was finished, and probably still isn't factory original

Footrest hangers were chrome on the 750s and alloy on 1100s.

@robertpaton1740 Ah, thanks, good parts commonality Suzuki (and no wonder why the 1980 Z750E was considerably lighter). l suppose the flagship 1100 should have the best.

Now I'm not against old Suzukis per se... But with the level of FAFFERY being doled out on you by this one I am seriously considering coming down there and stealing it myself to save you from this torture. If the owner is paying by the hour for the labour that was about a grand or so for the carb fitting, right!?
