I've been a kpop fan since 2005 and never learned the Korean language. Yet I don't embarrass myself. Embarrassing yourself doesn't have to do anything with learning a language or not. You just need to be a respectful person in general. They will love you while speaking English too. Stop obligating shit to kpop fans. Sasaengs need therapy. My friend used to be an Exo sasaeng (she’s not anymore hence the “used to”). She followed them onto flights and she was always found odd jobs to like I guess get more information on them. She would show me things she found to show she actually stalked them or something like that after it was over. She’s Korean, so she would be in little sasaeng groups. She was also rich, so she could follow them and basically get first class seats just to be with them. It was so creepy. During award season she would basically take jobs such as transportation or organization to get close to them since she was staff. Other sasaengs do this too btw. It was sickening the things she told me. At first I thought she was lying because I couldn’t believe people could actually be that obsessed with an idol. Until she showed me the pictures, which were sickening and horrifying. I became friends with her when she moved to America and she got therapy which she’s still in. I almost always tried not to talk about Exo around her due to the fact that I didn’t want to trigger anything. A few days later i realized that was her life. All she did was go after Exo and stalk them. I told her I was disgusted by her actions, and she doesn’t justify it anymore. I think she finally realized what she did was wrong. There’s so many other stories I can’t get into. Then I realized that most Sasaeng’s spend years and money wasted into something that eventually gets them nothing. My friend spent 5 years and 10,000 USD stalking them. My friend literally had her life ruined due to this. I advise the people who read this comment not to do this. *It ruins you.*

thanks for making this video and pointing out other types of koreaboos/toxic stans that are not THAT cringey always because they can be as annoying as those gluing their lids. im personally a korean studies major and a huge part of my course apart from learning the language is learning about the culture and let me tell u (this is at all koreaboos) most professors and in general korean people don’t even consider all these things u do and like real korean culture, if they do they know it’s just a very small part of it - saying u love the culture when all u know about korea is their modern pop music, food, beauty industry and “the general entertainment industry and how it works” is purely ignorant and delusional. what’s also super annoying is foreign people criticizing korea as u said without having any proper knowledge about the country, like there are many things in korea I might not necessarily agree with but the point of my studies is to learn and try not to judge or what’s worse, change it. just because u stan kpop it doesn’t mean u have the right to talk shit if u probably don’t even know the language so u cant fully understand the sources and being born and raised in the western society doesn’t give u any cultural background to speak on topics regarding korea or just any other country u have no connection with. there was many times intl fans would say bad things about kfans or knets basing on some stereotypes they didn’t agree with when in fact more and more Koreans start to hate on intl fans for being delusional and having no idea what’s actually up but always being the first to comment on everything that doesn’t even involve them. i just wish people liked kpop or “the culture” without being weird about it and kept their negativity to themselves or learned to state their opinions without sounding ignorant and being uneducated because it ruins the general image of kpop stans outside of korea and those who are genuinely into getting knowledge about the country

We should also talk about the toxicity of people (Koreans and non-Koreans) who slap the label “koreaboo/weeaboo” onto people for the stupidest things. There’s a difference between genuinely enjoying and respecting Korean/Asian culture (even if kpop was what got you interested) and just fetishizing and romanticizing it. It seems like many people don’t know the difference and strive to shit on any normal ole joe who has a liking towards Ramen and knows how to say 안녕하세요 😕 Edit: and it seems to only be with Korea/other Asian countries. 1) koreaboos are awful, especially the casual ones, I 100% agree with you, it's obnoxious to see people being offended by things relating to korean culutre when they're not KOREAN. 2) It disappoints me the Korea doesn't have strict laws about stalking (correct me if I'm wrong), it would make it easier for companies to get restraining orders against those sasaengs & protect the idols from harmful situations. Just use common sense, if an idol couple are dating they would never make themselves obvious, Also if I have to see one more video proving some crazy ship like lizkook or rosekook is real because 'they looked at each other' I'm gonna tear my hair out. Often, what annoys me the most is that some of these obsessive fans try to enforce the Korean culture onto normal fans. Personally, I get some things should be respected as a I-fan. Like comparing an 3rd gen artists to one of the 2nd or 1st gen, as all gens have their own struggles and compose a different part in K-POP history. However, I have had someone bitching to me about how I should not compare the achievements of two groups because one debuted two years earlier, and that this disrespect was why fanwars started. Like no. It's you people who adopt the Asian system of respecting your elders even if it's a one year age gap, that start those fanwars. If it's one or two years, many of their struggles would have been identical, if not all their struggles. If I am an I-fan, and you are an I-fan, why do we need to adopt the culture? English is not my native language either, yet am I adopting British or American culture? No. I'm from a country where it's common to speak more then one language, and we're pretty much all like, 'we learn the language, like the media but keep our own culture'. It's a different story if you're actually visiting South-Korea, because then you are actually interacting with the culture. So please, keep those occasional Korean words, and the rules of how we should behave like K-netz away from me.

While I agree with you in points including what you say about Dispatch.. I think practically it's not possible. Are they bad because they follow the artist and invade their privacy? Yes. Is it wrong of them to expose relationships? Definitely. Do I want them to be stopped / banned? YES! Can they be stopped or banned? No. Why? Because too many people are invested in this business.. As horrible as it sounds.. Dispatch is one of better behaved paparazzi media outlet.. It's even worse in the western countries.. And with the growing popularity of KPOP.. It's that paparazzi that really worries me.

I am from India and I know some ARMYs here.. they hard Stan and ship BTS members to a unbelievable level (not all of them. u get the point) most of the fans are still teenages and they take this shipping and hard Stan thing to a level where it becomes unhealthy.. it's not fit. people and fans need to know the limit for things....the problem is all the fandoms have a large number of teenagers staning them now and the group members show love in such a generous way to their fans..,it's obvious. but some people are not mature enough. they can't devide the reality from their own fantasy world and then the problem begins. they think their "oppa" gave the flying kiss to only him/her and they belong together and other unhealthy stuff. (sorry for my English)
