OC Transpo Video Ride: Route R1 Express, Between Blair and Lyon (Fall 2021)

On Sunday, September 19, 2021, O-Train (LRT) Line 1, also known as the "Confederation Line" was shut down due to a major derailment between Tremblay Station and Hurdman Station -- specifically at the Riverside Drive overpass. Consequently, O-Train Line 1 was closed down from September 19, 2021 to November 12, 2021 (54 days).
As a result, replacement bus route, "Route R1" operated throughout the duration of the LRT closure.
Due to crowding on Route R1 during rush hour and the indirect routing of the bus route between Rideau Station and Blair, OC Transpo created "R1 Express" that operated between Blair and Lyon Station. During the AM Rush Hour (between 6:30am and 8:30am), service would operate in the westbound direction to Lyon; while service would operate in the eastbound direction during the PM Rush Hour (3:30 and 5:30pm). Frequency was "every ten (10) minutes on the tens" at the first stop. A total of six (6) buses was required to maintain a 10 minute service.
Route R1 Express commenced operation on September 23, 2021 until November 16, 2021 (i.e. service did overlap with O-Train Line 1 between November 12 and 16, 2021).
