1st try dampe, decent run overall but all the luck related stuff besides dampe was kinda bad. Still going for lower.

@brianrutherfield9233 I think it's because they only use bugs in the game which they manipulate. Speedrunning games usually end up breaking them completely which spawns new categories. OoT any% was a lot of fun until they figured out how to skip straight to the end lmao

21:35 right? so i’m not the most knowledgeable about this, but I’ll try my best .. so when you see Link’s hands in the air during this split, you’ll notice that he isn’t actually holding anything. This is a big marker of SRM, which stands for stale refrence manipulation. if you go into the description of this video, ZFG put a paste bin link where he explains this in really good detail- it’s one of the first lines of the paste bin because it’s so frequently used in the speed run (and so confusing!!) The paste bin questions you should look at in particular are #6,#9, and #24 . for the tldr of the pastebin, basically he wants to load specific things into memory (hence all the bombs and weird movement) and then unload those things too (how link’s hands are holding an ‘invisible’ item) hope i helped at least a little (:

sub 3 hours isn't possible-the current TAS for this route has the timing at around 3:02:00-for sub 3 hours to be possible there needs to be a new discovery that saves insane amounts of time or a new route needs to be planned

@@JwebGuru How is the TAS slower than his sum of best splits? Theoretically, he's done those "best splits" through hundreds of runs and it would only take one run where the stars aligned and he nearly matched his best splits to get sub 3.

@@sanjicook08 The TAS is slower because it was poorly optimized (it's a LOTAD) and a few new tricks were found since it was made. As for "it only takes one run where the stars align..." ZFG has explained in other videos that the probability of this happening is just too low to be plausible.

Yes, walking backwards is faster than normal walking in most cases. For short distances, rolling is faster. SRM means Stale Reference Manipulation, which is new to me, but I'm assuming it's what spawns all the free items and I think it's done by doing specific things in a certain order, like dropping the fish. Hope this helps

Probably more intimidating to run against ZFG while he plays 100%, but if he moves to max% child or other categories, it’s likely we’ll see other people creep up on him.

this is my first time watching a 100% speedrun of Ocarina of Time. I didn't realize there were so many glitches to the game. The glitches are totally fine, it's just, I wasn't expecting to have absolutely no idea what was happening the entire run after he walks out the front door of link's house.

runners almost always hate their runs unless they're basically flawless. it's relatively uncommon to hear a runner say "yeah that was a good run," it's usually "this run sucked" even when it's WR. and in zfg's case, he doesn't even care about WR, he just wants a really good run without any substantial mistakes.

It's called Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM). In the description of the video is a commentated demonstration of the route, ZFG explains what all of the glitches are. There's also a really good SRM explanation in the AGDQ 2021 run of OoT All Dungeons on this channel too
