Great work you two! Any steps taken to make you more efficient when you’re building is a great use of your time. I’ve done the same thing, but cut up pieces of white baseplate and hot glued them to the fronts of my drawers. It’s easy to just change the elements on the plates anytime stock changes in the drawers. Your shelf display on top looks sharp as well! 👏

My career is running a rather large balloon decoration company and we stock over half a million balloons in my studio. We have a similar problem with overflow bags of balloons just like the overflow LEGO parts. Here is a suggestion. Rather than putting the parts on little plates outside each cabinet, you could simply number each cabinet or each shelf within the cabinet if you wanted to get more granular. Then get a small item like a disc of plastic or ping pong ball or something like that and write a number on that item. If something is on shelf 17 or cabinet 12, simply write the number on that item and place the item in The container of parts in your main inventory. When you run low on dark green leaf elements, you will just look at the ping pong ball or plastic disc labeled "17" (you could 3d print it) in that container and know that you can go grab more from shelf 17. The little plastic thing of abs will not crowd out too much Lego, and you will always know which cabinet holds those items, plus you will never accidentally order more of a particular item when you run out and later find that you had tons of them in a cabinet below.

Hey mate, strong word of advice. DON'T get Duplo for your mountain structure, it seems like the perfect part to use as a skeleton, however, clutch power is weak and it doesn't seem to want to stay together. This is hard to explain, basically I used 2x4 Duplo bricks and 8x16 Duplo Plates for my mountain. Once built, I noticed that some areas would be 'lifted' as if the bricks 'expanded' and it didn't matter how often I pushed them back together, it would just keep coming apart over time. FYI, I used over 1500 2x4 Duplo bricks and 100 Duplo Plates and covered them in over 50k Green LEGO 2x4 bricks, so my scale might be similar to what you are planning. I have decided to go down the stilts and picture plate technique like you are using, just waiting for the next LUGBULK to get the quantity I need. Anyways, keep up with the cool content.

Bricksie, do you have some sort of bracelet or so, from Lego, that you could put on the drawers that have those white boxes in them? That way you can still see what you put in them. Or you make your own labels, in 3D, like say using screenshot pictures from the digital lego builder program of brick link-ing, with the pieces displayed. That way you only need to print them. And you can get your white plates, back. Looks like the kids will have fun. Now picture those blocks and big plates, when you yourself want to build a real mountain, Bricksie. So keep a eye out for more such duplo deals, you might need the pieces. Do suggest you get a good stack of the better & thus later lego car main plates. Think modern Speed Champions, here and make a few of your own. I do hope you thus, get a second Rivendell LOTR, set, so you can make that re-brick double moc. And that's just one thing.

Hey Bricksie, it can be very damaging to the OCD community to claim things like organizing are OCD. OCD is an incredibly life altering disorder and people with OCD have serious struggles that shouldn't be minimized to organization. Love the videos.
@spitefield
@spitefield Ай бұрын
As someone with OCD his use of it is entirely ok here in my opinion. When someone describes themselves as being "a bit OCD" about something related to organization, they're using a common expression to convey their attention to detail in how they go about organizing or sorting something. This is the colloquial use for the term OCD, and it has been for a very long time. Most people understand that using it like this is never with the intent to trivialize the actual disorder. Think of other terms people use in language too. Sometimes people say stuff like "I'm addicted to this new show" or that they are "depressed because they had one bad day". are these people trivializing addiction and depression? No. I think that trying to police how people are using words actually hinders open communication about it more, and it just makes things more tense for no reason.
