I have no words.......but as the young people say this is dope, tight and I say it is awesome. Unbelievable. I love artists. Who would have thought to bring free style to Chopin...my daughter said that he (dancer) was vibing. You know I see God in everything and this just blew me away.
@hammydon657 жыл бұрын
I love it - you do what the hell you want, Lang Lang, and Marquese too. I guarantee you no one in this read can even come close to playing it or dancing it better.
@sugar17565 жыл бұрын
Lang Lang is flat out amazing in everything I've heard him play. He really soared with this Chopin. But to me the dancing shows the limitation of this style of dancing. I was amazed at how strong the dudes ankles were to hold some of his turns but there was nothing in the dance that reflected or shared Chopin's music or Lang Lang's interpretation.

Kraig’s Musical Works No, that is just bad production. What you hear is obviously not what you see. He probably recorded this in some professional studio with flawless acoustics and fantastic equipment. This is just him playing the etude a different time and that is poorly synchronized

This comment section is not very happy about mixing contemporary dance with classic romantic repertoire and I can empathize. However, being rude and ignorant to artists devoting their souls and lives to art is utterly despicable! My impression is that if you don't break boundaries and bring about change, you will not develop or evolve. ''Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.'' John F. Kennedy Beauty exists in many ways. This time, the beauty of two worlds have crossed roads and a new color is mixed. My fellow classical music listeners, what comments would you like to hear from hip-hop and street dancers if they saw this? If no new interpretations are made then no new music will come from old scores and sheets. It is the performer that serves you the dish. Compositions are just recipes. No one would be able to eat the same meal over and over again! ''I cannot write poetically, for I am no poet. I cannot make fine artistic phrases that cast light and shadow, for I am no painter. I can neither by signs nor by pantomime express my thoughts and feelings, for I am no dancer; but I can by tones, for I am a musician.'' -Mozart I am not begging for sympathy, nor is it hate I wish to plant, it is just that I wish you could understand and perhaps respect.

Well... I liked it. The way Lang Lang plays is a bit vibrating, but emotive at the same time. And the dancer shows that there can be a fusion between classic and modern music of high quality; plus his moves are so nimble, he flows like the ocean. I see nothing unnatural in this video, but instead an ocean of quietness that even makes me want to sleep :) Bravo Lang Lang!

why are people hating on the dancer? your not liking a particular kind of music/dance, doesn't mean that this kind is ridiculous. dancing is art and people should start respecting and accepting hip hop and break dance more, because this is how some people express their feelings. the name of the song doesn't matter at all to a dancer. only the vibe it is giving to them. and why does everyone connect dabbing and whiping with dubstep?
@emilius_5257 жыл бұрын
When someone plays a song like this, they are recreating what Chopin composed. These modern times just take away the beauty and tragedy of the conditions it takes to write a piece like this, by hand! While Lang Lang is an acomplished pianist, I don't think this kind of stuff respects what he plays. This kind of arrangement does not work for people nowadays.

*Sigh*... too bad that people who believe they know how to appreciate music forgot that music can be heard in many different ways. To express what you hear with your body through dance is absolutely natural. I think it beautiful to see how the young man interpreted the piece through motion. I think his fluid, yet dramatic body language suits the piece and I think even a deaf person could understand through that dance how the ocean waves writhe through the notes of the piano. I like it!
@Octavio123410005 жыл бұрын
No, just no. Totally different styles. Even in art which implicates many ways to think, to feel, to interpretate, there are rules that must be totally considered. Would you put a ballet dancer in a Snoop Dog song talking about weed and hot chicks? NO, THERE ARE RULES IN ART.

Wrong again. According to Cortot, it was written after the whole Warsaw ordeal with Russia. It just happened to sound like a storm; it wasn't written based on one.
@MusicalMissCapri7 жыл бұрын
Chopin didn't actually write out what the piece meant. Maybe it was about feelings about the war. Maybe it was about a storm. Maybe it was both. maybe it was something else entirely. Nobody knows. So imagine your own scene to go with the music and shut up and listen and appreciate it for the powerful impassioned piece it is.
