Great to see the FAIR is still going strong in Canny Auld Shields. In 1890 the Mitchelson Brothers built a 'mechanical ride' at South Shields beach. It was a primitive 'Switchback Railway' situated on Herd Sand (now known as Littlehaven).

some of these rides had to be taken down because some of them are catious and cause hazards! i live in newcastle and the rides that are still there are so much fun! its just some of the rides make you feel sick after a while! but u r too busy caring about which ride to go onto next!!x

It's good but most of those rides aren't there now though have been replaced by new ride's

That thing is really fun me,my sister and my cousin corie went on it you have to close your eyes and keep your hands infront of you and go in the place is sooo mirrory if you open your eyes we all got lost and sombody had to come in and look for us but it is also known at the tarzan maze we got out afetr like a hour

Now owned by some Asian lot that have just swapped everything around to make it look better,still attracts loads of people from shields and from Scotland and everywhere else you can think of. It's a very un-rated place god only know's why best beach and best fair you will get and right at the mouth of the tyne river in Sunny Shields. My mate and family came down and loved it stayed in the challets at the beach lived here 20 years and it's the best town on the map apart from home...AMAZING 100%

I am sticking to my comment but this fair is a safe place and the place is great, I go there often but that's the only let down I've ever seen in the park in my whole 13 years.

Nothing like this now need's a brand new video made as if you look at Whitley Bay and the 365 Plan,nothing has been done to keep a good Pleasure Beach Fair going,they moved thing's around and made it more compact but no massive rides like years ago. One massive new Roller-Coaster would have people flocking here up + down the country people especially young familys would love to come back to Shields Playground of fun.

GREAT VIDEO BUT OVER HALF OF THESE RIDES ARNET THERE, ALL HAVE DIFFERENT NAMES AND I WAS ON THE METORITE WHICH IS NOW THE ENERGIZER, IT WAS CREAKING AND JUMPED WHEN IT WASNT SUPPOST TO, HE CANCELLED THE RIDE AFTER AND I WAS ON IT, WHE WE ALL TOOK THE SEATBELT OFF IT STARTED TO SPIN AGAIN!

Half of the problem is the staff who work there these days.Most of them don't speak english let alone know how to operate the rides.
