I like the idea of utilizing ice as a temporary structural solution for robotic articulation. For example you could program a prop or an arm or a float or mechanisms never before thought of. Etc etc…good luck😊

I was in Svalbard last March. That was sooooooooo cold that it hurt. I also did a polar plunge at 80 degrees latitude, just a few hundred miles from the North Pole.

Utilizing a communication system is beneficial however recognizing common denominators is a programming communication that can be automated.

Could you use a kite, a pulley, a line, and that underwater rover to retrieve from depth and get across the ice?

You might be able to utilize environmental conditions in your robotic engineering, for example, filtering sea water and freezing it at depths would cause the robot to rise. Just an example.
