I'm sorry to hear of your battle with depression. Art can be a wonderful outlet and way to express yourself. I find it very calming. I'm so glad you've found inspiration in my work. Resin can be a very challenging but also rewarding medium to work with. The biggest things I caution new artist with is 1) be patient, and 2) use proper personal protective equipment ( for me this mean pouring in a well ventilated space or wearing a respirator, safety glasses at least for heated projects, wearing nitrile or liquid gloves or having rubbing alcohol and paper towels nearby to quickly remove any resin that gets on my skin or clean up spills and drips).

Please explain the secret to get the waves. Every time I try to do this. It always turns out wrong.
@ResWorkshop6 ай бұрын
I don't really have a good answer for you. It took some trial and error, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'd say avoid over swirling the colors together, degas the colors before adding the white, and then only heat the edges of the white until they starts to bubble. I think keeping the white on the top is dependent on keeping the temperatures/viscosities different.

Thank you! All the Resin use in this piece is General 2 Part Epoxy from the Epoxy Resin Store Brand. The white pigment is a mix of pearl white color powered pigment from Jacquard Pearl Ex brand, and a opaque white ink dye that the label is missing from. Most of the colors are a mix of powders and ink dyes to create custom colors unique to each piece. The wood frame is a 14" Wood Craft Platter with a combo of red oak stain and grey stain. The crushed acrylics are from the mosaics part of the craft store. I use drawer pulls for handles, a picture hanging tab on the back with anti scuff adhesive pads (for chair bottoms) to protect walls or tables.

If we want 8 inch frame then how much ml solution is required ?
@ResWorkshop Жыл бұрын
It depends on the depth of resin you want to pour and how much volume the stones you use to take up. This is the basic estimate I use. I typically use .25 or .33 of an inch for the resin depth on these projects, and negate the stones, it's better to have too much resin mixed than not enough. Volume =πr^2 (* depth) V = π 4^2 (* .25) V = 50.3 (*.25) V = 12.6 in^3 I use cups to measure so that converts to 0.87cups or 206ml.

What's the base, i mean the board in which resin is poured, what is it called? Is it the mould or something else?
@ResWorkshop3 ай бұрын
It is that, a board. I believe the store calls them ‘wood craft platter’ or ‘wood round treys’. Because they are wood they won’t be able to be separated from the resin so they become part of the final piece. Usually I stain them black, grey, or brown and add handles through them.

It's actually a piece of wood, so it stays with the resin as a frame. I think I got this one at a craft store like Michael's or Hobby Lobby, but I've also cut them out with a jigsaw and router.

Can anyone tell, how did that bubbles come
@ResWorkshop8 ай бұрын
Two ways bubbles happen, because resin goes through an exothermic reaction it heats up and areas of different temps move past each other, the metallic pigments and timelapse make it more noticeable. The other that can happen is the heat pulls trapped air bubbles out of the wood base and they escape out of the resin. The wood I used was pretty dry so most likely the first option.

It seems that stones are a little higher than the surface of the ocean. Am i right? I mean if we touch this art work, we will feel the texture of stones? Yes?
@ResWorkshop3 ай бұрын
Yes, this one we can still feel the stone texture. I like the look of it better this way, but if someone wanted a smooth finish with the stones completely submerged, I’d suggest making sure they are below the edges of the wood when initially places and adding a flood coat after the initial pour cues.

where is it place of epoxy
@ResWorkshop Жыл бұрын
I’m not quite sure what you are asking - I’m thinking you are asking about if resin is a replacement for epoxy? The product I use is Epoxy-Resin. Because both terms are in the name many people use them interchangeably. Technically there are multiple types and resins, and multiple types of epoxies, this product happens to fit both categories. Hope this helps!
