Thoroughly enjoyed this visit to the home of Seahorses, in Hawaii. Love their website, and this lovely video allowed the people behind this effort to become real, too. I used to watch seahorses at a friend of my mother's, back in 1960s Seattle. I'm so glad more children will be able to enjoy domestic sourced seahorses. They are a joy.

I visited Oceanrider several years ago and recommend that place to everyone I know. Just loved this video - I bought a vid at their gift shop but Oceanrider has expanded since I was there. I hope I get to go back this year. Also, I never met the owners so this was a treat - almost as good as being there. Nicely done.

32:00 I wasn't disappointed with my Sea Monkeys. They didn't look like the pictures, but I decided to enjoy them anyhow. They lived a few years (through breeding they did themselves) and one of the oldest was named Grandpa.

there may be some kind of algae or particle in the water in the sea dragons natural habitat that helps the eggs stick to the males tail, or there may be a glue that the female secretes that needs a current of water passing over it to set and keep the eggs on his tail
@jasminflower38146 жыл бұрын
Good points. They may even eat a certain algae or plant that makes the special glue.

@larkbird92477 жыл бұрын
great you have a shrimp source, but your average seahorse owner doesn't. Is there a solution?
@jasminflower38146 жыл бұрын
You can buy the red shrimp off of Aquarium pet stores and home breeders who may advertise on Craig's list and other places.
@oakenshadow67639 жыл бұрын
they could try having an auction or raffle for a mating pair of sea horses at a fundraiser event to get money for new tanks. the guys from the tv show Tanked (they build custom fish tanks) might even be talked into having a discount on a custom aquarium be a runner-up prize! Tanked might even mention you as a supplier on their show and to their customers, bringing more attention and revenue to not only your business, but the issue of sea horse poaching, trade, and habitat destruction!

look there are people that have bred them. there's a guy in Australia that is light years ahead... I applaud you for breeding but quit taking out of the wild. I have several in my tanks. I'm not looking to breed just for the beauty and all are captive bred. please stop talking wild stock....
