Oceaneering Demos Live Deployment of Cost-Effective and Innovative Flowline Connection System
On April 28, 2016, Oceaneering hosted a live demonstration of an 8-inch vertical flowline connection system at the company’s Subsea Products facility in Houston, Texas. At the event, Oceaneering landed out an 85-foot jumper, show-cased features of the second-generation vertical clamp connector, demonstrated a controlled landing where the seal is made without special running tools, and then walked through the sequence for a subsea seal replacement with an Oceaneering-built remotely operated vehicle (ROV) tool suite.
According to Norman Smith, Product Development Manager, Oceaneering has decades of experience delivering connection systems for subsea applications worldwide. “The 8-inch vertical connector we demonstrated at the event includes the legendary Oceaneering GraylocⓇ metal-to-metal seal and answers market needs for a compact footprint, low-cost connector that can be installed without special tools,” said Smith.
The live demonstration showcased the efficient and simplified installation of a jumper with Oceaneering’s vertical flowline connector. Viewers saw first-hand how Oceaneering’s cost-effective solution can tie-in flowlines and pipelines to subsea infrastructures.
“We have the capability to deliver an entire subsea connection solution to the seafloor with one contract, which means fewer headaches and lower costs for our customers,” said Rod Larson, President.

This is a realistic and interesting demonstration "Manufacturing and load out to the barge"; this reminds me of the moments I worked as an ITV supervisor hired by TOTAL E & P at Sonils base for Friedlander Angola company.
