I love that you are doing all you can to keep the history of tiki's, road signs, etc. alive. It's important for younger generations to preserve these pieces of Americana and history.

Hello from New Zealand/Aotearoa, Justin. I was last in LA in September 2019 and was due to return in 2020 but then covid happened. Hanging out to get back there and go to some tiki bars that I haven't yet been to. Very sad news to hear about Oceanic Arts closing. I was planning on going there when I next got back to the USA. Great informative video. I will certainly be buying the book.

Man even growing up in SoCal, I never did get the chance to visit Oceanic Arts. With Don The Beachcomber closed, and now OA, I guess the Meccas are dissolving into history. I hate to hear they closed! I grew up watching your channel and I loved watching the videos you filmed there. I’m only 20 now and I was never able to visit since I live so far away. At least their awesome legacy is preserved in the book!

Thanks for sharing this! Tiki Art was part of my childhood as both me and my friends had tropical themed basement “family rooms” and or bedrooms. Good times and laughter were all part of the experience.

I had just been telling a friend of mine about the place. We are both very far away (WV and PA) and never had the pleasure of going there. I'm delighted to hear about this book, however!

There was an old bar in the town I live in called "Cafe Caravan" that my parents said was sort of a Tiki/Jungle Bar/Lounge. It was closed down by the time I was old enough to drink. I do remember it had a mechanical giraffe sign outside where the giraffe head and neck would tip up and down. Last time I remember it being open was the early 80's. The building has since been torn down. I wonder if some of the stuff inside and out was manufactured at Oceanic Arts.

The last tiki joint her on Oahu is La Marinas. It had the soul of the old days and the decor to go with it! Unfortunately, someone decide to re-model (don't know the final look but should have never been touched!

I love how you explain history and I hate how history is going away I missed out everything since I left California and 2000 started sec i was 5 years old and I still remember everything of the 90s even though It didn't last long I still want to go back if I knew I was going to die in 20 years let me go back start in the 80s so I can end up 1999 but why should I miss out what's going on now but there something i hate what were livening in right now if everything goes back to normal I want us to start like we did 1980s and 1990s i don't have to miss out on everything no more

There is diy product you can get that you literally paint on and use a heat gun it gives a burnt wood effect. That could look cool on a tiki.
