This is the peak of the Vennart's writing and vocalization. Simply amazing. Utterly beautiful. It's crazy when you realize that they split after this album.

A true orgy of harmonies, melodies ending in a two vocal masterpiece effervescence..just like opening a champagne bottle at the beggining of a long awaited date ...simple perfection. Shame they broke up...its only us who make these bands play and its only us who cry when they no longer exist!! I love you all my nostalgic brothers in music!!

Just let me say it; Oceansize is one of the greatest bands to ever assemble. And, my life would be lesser without their music. Rarely moved like I have been by them. I am grateful for everything they created. I love music, but if you took it all away, leave Oceansize. Please.

If only the boys from Oceansize could settle their differences. They broke up just after writing what was arguably their best music. Listening to this now in 2019 is so bittersweet.

Listen to Vennart- Mike's new project. Similar vibes, same bass player I think. Really good. It's on bandcamp.

This band shaped my taste in music when I was 17/18 years old and Effloresce came out. Freakin masterpiece. And the outro of this track... so good.

Dear Record companies, If you're thinking of asking users to take down band's material on youtube, it's a dumb idea. Why? because I heard of this band, spent the morning surfing around youtube listening and now I'm about to buy everything they put out. Nuff said.

Oceansize has been to me something only TOOL can come close. so sad.
@PlaysWithChildren3 жыл бұрын
@Sbolla81 Oceansize is the ONLY band that can arguably be better than Tool. They don't rip Tool off either, like so many that are influenced by them do. Sonicly they are vastly different but satisfy that feel emotionally itch that almost nobody else comes close to scratching..

@shaftahoy try counting it in minums rather than crotchets, seems to be a clearer pattern at the start of 4/2, 3/2 (6/4), 4/2. Then later you're right when the piano riff comes in and the drums are filtered it's straight 6/4 (3/2 the way I'm counting it) for 8 bars. Then when the vocals come back in it's straight 4/2 with a bar of 3/2 and the end of each phrase, same goes for the guitar bit that comes in afterwards ( 3 bars of of 4 and 1 of 3)

we can only hope that its a temporary split, because they composed such good music and had synergy on the stage :(
@halyng14 жыл бұрын
@Flatliner0452 if you try counting it in 4/4 you hear how fucked up it sound. i hear that it's in some kind of 1/4. note groove but it is most definatly not straight up 4/4.
@shaftahoy14 жыл бұрын
@Flatliner0452 Because there is a snare on every other beat, you can hear it in 4/4 all the way through if you want, but it certainly isn't. For instance the little breakdown with the filtered drums is undeniably in 6/4.
@halyng14 жыл бұрын
Someone please tell me how to count the first part. its driving me crazy!
@Flatliner045214 жыл бұрын
@shaftahoy I was just listening to the drums, the drums just play in four and I didn't listen long enough to hear a change. the vocals and music are phrased around them, but I think you're just thinking harder than you have to if you try to place it in anything other than 4/4, sure it crosses bar lines and such, but to me the essence of what everything is playing in is 4/4.
@shaftahoy14 жыл бұрын
@halyng 6 bars of 4/4 and 1 bar of 6/4. Bass is playing in 6/4. Drums are phrased differently to the vocals.
@akinadom14 жыл бұрын
Currently trying to somehow figure out the drums, gets pretty much confusing after the bit of a harder part o.O Too awesome opus!

I still think they'll never top Effloresce, and I haven't been proven wrong yet. But that said, Self Preserved is fucking amazing, probably ties with Total Life Forever for my favourite album of the year (and the fucking DEFTONES had a new album this year, so that's saying something)
