It’s not fair to call it a total rip off, there are other sims out there and no one is forcing anyone to pay and there is plenty of information out there to give a new user a good idea of what it costs. What Iracing does offer is well organised, regular racing in a variety of cars with skill based match making resulting in racing against people with a similar skill level. Having tried all the sims, I personally think Iracing offers good value, but I can understand if you prefer other choices.

My suggestion for buying all of the content for iRacing is very simple, buy 3 or 6 items a week, every two weeks, or once a month. I do have all of the content but that has been because I have been in iRacing for 13 years now. Back ten or twelve years ago when they brought in multi-class racing, you had to own all of the content being used. An example is if you owned the Ford GT and were racing that car, then you had to own the HPD-ARX-1c as well since it was racing at the same time. So a lot of us that have all of the content HAD to buy the content just to race a series that we wanted to race.

You should check out the Formula 3.5 once you get your safety rating up. Also, speaking of safety rating. Try some Production Car Sim-Lab Challenge for an easy safety rating gain. (as long as you don't try and race and just stay clean). With all the different classes you usually end up away from your own class and out of trouble. It let me gain a ton of safety rating. And then I go and lose some when I race the FR3.5.

By the way, if you press ctrl + f12 with the first person camera in replay mode you can tweak the camera position to get your steering wheel lined up better with the display 👍

GT3 had the most votes? Jesus christ the simracing community is boring. Also, and I'm genuinely not trying to be a jerk here, OC had plenty of drama in GT4 races as it was and the community wants to send him into even faster cars... I mean it would be good for the drama/"content" I guess. There's nothing wrong with driving slow cars, and they are in the ladder for a reason. They teach good things about racecraft and so on, and the racing is often better than in fast cars. People who skip all the ladder stuff because they are "too cool" to get good in a Miata generally aren't the kind of people that other people want to race with or have any confidence in.

If they could sell all the content at a more reasonable price, it would be a lot more popular and make the same if not more profit. Their business model is as outdated as the game's UI. Also, before I tried iRacing, I was expecting it to have A LOT of cars since it's been around for so many years, but it turns out that they only have 135 cars rn, and about half of them are NASCARs and DIRTcars. And similar story with tracks, 130 tracks sound like a lot but the overwhelming majority of them are oval or dirt oval tracks… I have to say it's not particularly attractive to people who aren't into oval racing.

Assetto corsa is a all cars, all tracks, mods, drift, rally, F1 is a all driving simulator. Compettizione is only GT cars and no mods no drift no anything, it's only for "serious" racing. You can get assetto corsa for 5 euro, buy the version with all the dlc, the basic version is not worth it. then there is "Low fuel motorsport " which is a web that organizes competitive races for AC similar to iracing

Hey OC, I dont wanna sound like a backseat gamer or something like that but it really is a beginner mistake to go into races without practice. I know it seems very exciting to go racing as fast as possible but that does not help you if you dont know how to be fast on a circuit / in a car. If you practice even a little bit more, like 15 minutes before the race, your results will be much better. And it is very important to focus on one car class because they all behave very differently and if you swich between cars very often without practice your results wont improove

Looks like it. Braking in these cars is tricky since they don't have ABS so it's something I was definitely still getting used to.

@@OCRacing Decenr race nonetheless! I recommend if you're looking to get into Formula/open wheelers, start at the bottom to work up to more power. F4 is a fun car and shorter races, also the new Formula Ford is much more fun than the Vee and would be good if you wanted to start from the very beginning
