Thanks Karl, Superb presentation as always. Can only speak for myself, but have to assume some one with a large studio is unlikely to watch your channel from an educational viewpoint, however hobbyists and the like (me) are going to hang on your every word as you are a Great presenter. £250 for a 75cm octa, particularly in the current financial climate is frankly bonkers. I am sure the majority don't begrudge you the kit you use as a Professional, but taking portraits in a non professional environment (my front room) will never justify the sort of kit/price you are recommending, however much I might want them. Many Thanks as always for your time and effort releasing these free to air tutorials.

I've rarely experienced build quality issues with 3rd party stuff, though I am picky about what I use, I find for softboxes it's more the _quality_ (texture, size shape, etc.) of the silver material that is the big difference -and that some 3rd party diffusers tend blue and whiten as they yellow with age whereas Profoto, Broncolor, etc. are perfect out of box. I'm not sure where Chimera fits here, they're 3rd party but definitely pro, and so nice to setup.

GODOX - same materials and build quality for 1/10 the price. Thank you Karl ❤

We happy to provide information about what is available and our thoughts on the quality, although your estimation of 1/10th of the price is not accurate as we showed in this video. And of course we can only provide information about the quality of products we have actually used and tested.

@@VisualEducationStudio Hi, totally understandable. However, Not everyone can afford broncolor equipment. Chinese products will give the same result, and even if there is a defect or failure, you can buy another 2/3 at the price of 1 Bron or 1 Prof softbox. As for the lighting itself - no doubt. Made in China is garbage. But it's just ... 😉 Thank you my friend for all your efforts!

For location shooting, isn't it much more practical to use a colapsible octa? There are a bunch of them around and they're not low quality at all....

Thank you for this presentation. I like also my Octabox 75… compact and very versatile and the not most expensive SB either… What I don’t like about the grids is also that the pattern can be visible in the eyes. Do you think for avoiding it that it can use a P70/65/45 reflector with a heavy frosted gel (on the barn doors attachment)?

For me, easy fold/install softbox is necessary specially outdoor. My softbox doesn't need to put on the ground if you want to install/fold it.

Hey Karl, somebody in our local photography group was telling another person to shoot HSS in her studio. Please correct me if I am wrong but I have never heard of doing that, HSS was made for outdoor portraits to overpower the power of the sun. Thanks :-)

No reason to all to shoot HSS in a studio unless you want to shoot against windows with a very bright day outside and want to shoot with a more open f-stop. If you are talking about a dark studio with typical indoor room lights ( which can be dimmed or turned off ) then I would not use HSS for a few reasons. 1. It affects colour. 2. It eats flash power as the flash has to pulse multiple times to cover the sensor. 3. It is worse for freezing movement and action due to the multiple flash pulses. Sure as a tool it has a use but not really in a typical studio.

Fact...made by godox, relabeled Broncholor. 272.00 vs 75.00. Some companies live by huge markups, some live by volume.

When you hear the word 'fact' it's always nice to have it backed up with evidence so that the audience you're speaking to can see these 'facts'. Do you have anything you can provide us other than your beliefs please?
