I must say this channel feels spot on to me! :) You are very good at explaining complex concepts in a systematic and easy-to-grasp manner Especially enjoy how you are using the piano roll instead of sheet music. It was a challange to adapt at first, but i really do see the value in being able to visualise deviations in the timegrid (or disregarding the time grid entirely). Also I think you are reaching out to a broader mass of people, which is great. More musical knowledge to the people !! All the best

Interesting.. never heard that scale named as octatonic. I use all the time more than 25 years. That scale known as a diminished scale, built from two diminished sevenths chord. In example C diminished scale come from C diminished seventh chord & C# diminished seventh chord.

yes. there are two diminished scales, of course, the half-step/whole-step and the whole-step/half-step. here we're using the half/whole. i'm using the term 'octatonic' to emphasize the symmetrical nature of the scale. in the same way we say 'pentatonic' or 'hexatonic.' (i guess the chromatic scale would be 'dodecatonic.')😆
