@@noobslayerr9732 For me it's important how the gear looks. It's big part of whether it's inspiring or not for me. Also I don't even know how you can compare MPCs to Electron gear - they're both samplers only on paper :)
@noobslayerr97324 жыл бұрын
@@Artek604 8 outs a groovebox inside on a beast of a sequencer and usb direct sampling tell me you are wrong.. Octa aint a sampler is a mixer and a parts sampling maggler on a decent midi sequencer which responds amazing to elektron ecosystem alongside other elektron gear. i love elektron bro but their sound for that price range is at best below average... on an insane over and above high price
@Artek6044 жыл бұрын
@@noobslayerr9732 As I said, you can't compare them objectively, because they cater to different user bases and use cases. If one wants to f**k samples up in elaborate way and do it live there's no way X is better than OT, for example. But I don't know why we're even arguing this? I never said OT is better than X, I actually also own MPC One and consider Force after the update that dropped yesterday. I only said that Mk1 versions of Electron gear are *beautiful* in terms of their looks and I stand by this, especially compared to X which looks like cash register ;) :D

8 years later and this is still your magnum opus. With all the emphasis on smaller more affordable devices from you lately I hope you haven't lost your way of creating innovative groundbreaking equipment like this. Hi there, thanks for the great video. I am considering to switch to the Octatrack for my live gigs and stop using Ableton Live in session view. I am not familiar with the octatrack yet but I would like to know if the machine is able to play 8 audio samples at the same time (and which need to start in sync) which are my 8 audio stems and last more than an hour in order to manipulate them singularly. Thanks in advance for the information.

I've sold all my other kit and in the process of buying an analog rytm and analog four. There is a lot to learn but once you wrap your head around a few concepts it all starts to fall into place ... with some unexpected 'happy accidents' along the way! The Octatrack sounds really good... gives a lot of charachter to your samples and is reassuringly built like a tank. (the build quality of the other gear I had was toy like in comparison). I'm more than sold on it... very happy customer :)

+Elektron hello, I am getting pretty frustrated with the slice function @10.30. I notice on the elektron forums people have a similar issue. I follow the video exactly, with a clean loop edited right and loaded directly from a file, and when you create the slice grid, on a flex or static machine, the 'now I have trigs on the sequencer as you can see here' just doesn't happen. Nothing is put down on the sequencer, this means I have to add each linear trig manually? which is what a lot of frustated people were doing on the elektron forum. I tried filling a bar with trigs and setting 'create linear locks' but this still doesn't solve the issue, depending on the size of the grid created, the loop never sounds the same. I am running version 1.25E (updated to H just after writing this, no change)

I wanted to hear it record, trim and play a sample and then hear it get mangled, so that I could understand the audio mangling capabilities that it's so highly regarded for. Most of the mangling in this demo happened to sounds that were sequenced into a beat, making it difficult to distinguish between the sequencer capabilities and sampler engine capabilities.

First off, this thing looks awesome. My question is can this work in unison with a DAW like Ableton or does it completely replace software? I've never owned a piece of hardware outside of an interface so I'm not sure how these things are used.

Eric from TX Hi Eric, I hope I'm not too late in replying. I just got my octatrack a month ago, and I am finding that it is great at being and outboard effects box, an all-in-one DJ box, or its own thing entirely. I am spinning and remixing my tracks in real time using this, and I love it.
@zeepster9 жыл бұрын
Trenton Abbott For dj-ing, i guess you have all your tracks loaded in the Octatrack? I also wonder if it runs in sync with Ableton or Traktor, or any DAW. Does it have a Slave mode?
@trentonabbott63219 жыл бұрын
zeepster That's my next experiment is trying to slave the OT with MIDI. I'll post updates soon. OT is more of its own thing, and that is the big caveat, that it doesn't support Elektron Overbridge for live integration.
@rhythmdroid9 жыл бұрын
+Eric from TX it absolutely works alongside a DAW. Octatrack can be the master clock source, or slave to your DAW's clock. Octatrack has 4 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs to connect to your DAW, not to mention USB connectivity to drag and drop samples/clips/stems/songs into Octatrack's memory. Another way to use it is as a more "hands-on" MIDI sequencer for soft-synths/soft-samplers in your DAW by sending MIDI into the computer. It has some very fun MIDI sequencing capabilities like MIDI LFOs (which can be tempo-synced, interesting waveshapes, even designed right on the hardware like a little etch a sketch) It's more fun than mouse clicking...
@rhythmdroid9 жыл бұрын
