Thanks for putting together your tutorials. What I like the most is the relaxed and unpretentious presentations of the concepts.

the least confusing resampling OT tutorial out there.... wonderfully simple explanation.

yeah forealz all the tutorials are confusing as fuck, at least at the beginning, once you get the basics everything falls into place. I'm gunna make the world's best octatrack tutorial once I figure this beast out a bit better, I just learned so I know what a beginner needs explained to them, namely, the different menus and their functions in a clear logical and brief way.

Hey man, I know this vid is old.. But I got a question. Your method of recording with "TrigOne" is pretty fast, and it seems it loops automatically. I think I saw another video of yours explaining it but I didn't get it quiet well. Could you explain it here please? I can't figure out the Trig and Loop part. Thanks and great videos!

Hi nice tutorial, the OT has alot of functions i'm still learning about it almost everyday. I heard you say in your videos you multitrack everything in ableton suite i guess? So you have different tracks with different fx in ableton and you can set limiters and all that stuff i guess on your hardware gear? Becaues i'm used to playing on my hardware without the use of a computer and i just started using the computer a couple of months ago and bought a really basic focusrite a 2i4 to start recording my L & R from my Allen & Heath mixer but tbh i think i could have much more options if i combine my hardware gear with ableton and maybe play hybrid the 2 things i would like to have the most is good plugins on my 303 clones to make them much more alive with the use of compressors, good reverb, delay and chorus and ofcourse distortion/overdrive. The second thing would be to start sequencing in ableton if this would all be possible with the gear i have. So i can make my composition of my songs in Ableton would this be still possible with using the sequencers on my elektron devices? like my AR & A4. I don't know how to use the OT in this setup tbh i know its a very flexible machine with 8 midi tracks and i got some gear and this could be helpfull. I want to sequence Analog rytm, Analog four, x0xb0x, TT 303, monologue, TR 8, (maybe OT) and a friend has quite alot of boutiques and also a analog rytm but also no software. I still want the live "feeling" and not always use ableton so i want to use the 303 clones and not plugins to make acid maybe to acid but that is for later. First things first i need a DAW, i think i'm going for Ableton suite. Next thing is a bigger sound interface you know my gear a bit would a 18i8 do the job? because the 18i20 just has more outputs so i don't really need that? i just need to buy something to give it more inputs? and then the last thing a usb station or a midi host or something like that i'm not really into that stuff i don't know alot about it because i only used hardware for years and just use a kenton midi thru to sync everything or just from device to device without the kenton midi thru, It looks like you know alot about the hybrid stuff because you always use software but still make use of your hardware synths. And do i still need my Allen & Heath PA system? Because i can plug in all hardware straight into sound interface? or am i wrong Oh and last thing im trying to make acid techno, acidcore, industrial techno, .. so i'm not gonna play in notes with a keyboard and that i can see that in ableton that is not necessary. Thanks in advance HalutioN. maybe this is a good idea for a studio setup/studio tour and explaining the connections Best regards

Hey, you can check out my iConnect midi setup tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWevnpylgtuMqqc it's as close to a studio breakdown as I guess we'll get on this channel :) To answer your questions: I multitrack to Ableton and later mix the song, I don't use Ableton for real life processing. I tried that for a while, but--as powerful as it is--it kinda seeps the fun out of music making for me. But you could totally sequence from Ableton in conjunction with the Elektron built-in sequencers. With the RYTM and A4/Keys the added value is that you don't have to manually load the project into your boxes: Ableton will save project settings in the plugin and pull it up once you open the session. I believe the best system is one where you can use the DAW when you need it, but you really don't have to :) I have the 18i8 and it works great. If your expanding it to 16 channels uising a cheap Behringer ADAT extender, make sure you get the newer 8200, not the old 8000. With the 18i8, the cool thing is that you can plug everything in and, when it's powered up, it's going to send the signal through, even when not connected to the computer. I'm not sure if other interface can do that though. There is obviously inherent value in using a mixer because you can control the levels hands on, but it's not a must. When it comes to Midi / Usb integration, I can't stress enough how valuable the iConnect Midi 4+ is: it is hands down the most awesome piece of gear I have owned. Good luck with your studio!

Okay thanks!! I watched your other video and it looks like a good piece of gear. I was doing a bit research of all the options i could use and would a elektron overhub work? but i would still need a bigger sound interface probably.. The elektron overhub has 7 usb connections and all my gear has usb connection: AR, A4, x0xb0x, TT 303, TR-8, etc.. Cheers

It's just a big IKEA desk (forgot the model). I built the elevated "attachments" myself.

I was doing the same exact thing last night, resampling a chain, but when I play it back it sounds so bad! I don't get it. Ever run into this? It sounds out of phase or something.

Shouldn't act like that. I'll try it out tonight and will try to recreate the effect.
