Welcome to my channel! Here you'll find folklore from across the British Isles. This video takes a look into the mysterious ghost ship known as the Octavius that went missing in the 1760s. It was seen again 13 years later near Greenland, despite its last logged location being near Alaska.

Sir Earnest Shakelton. If anyone needs a hero, Shakelton fits the bill. He never gave up. He never abandoned his men.

Shackleton was the perfect leader for that expedition. He was lucky to have not lost any of the men, when the odds weren't good.

Shackleton was a great man. Tge story of him and his men is awe inspiring. Not many people could make it through that let alone lead others through it. Everyone needs to know of ernest shackleton.

@@321scully incredible story and a very smart, determined, and tough man. The part of the story when the ship breaks up in the ice and he casually says the ship and stores are gone, we will go home now blows my mind

@@321scully i agree, they had some luck on their side but its amazing to me that the men said such great things about ernest. It would be easy ti blame someone for being in that situation but the men all seemed to be greatful he was there. Wonderful story of what humans can make it through

So tragic.😔 The stories of lost/ghost ships just seem to have an altogether more eerie feel to them. I think it's the thought of them being out there in the vastness of ocean quietly and mysteriously coursing the seas as though still following some pre-planned voyage. Hopefully the crew reached a more heavenly destination.🌹⚓🌟

If only we can go deep enough to seek out the 1.000's of ships at the bottom of our ocean. Maybe we will be able to one day, long after I have gone perhaps.

This has to be one of the creepiest ghost ship stories in existence. All those frozen dead bodies with the ship aimlessly drifting.

Strangely I have always found these old 'ghost' ship stories very interesting, particularly the Octavious. A very unfortunate decision by the captain lead to this disaster. Freezing to death could not be nice. I imagine the sea has claimed the Octavius by now. If only we could scour the bottom of the seas to see what's down there; the treasure for a start.

I wonder if these stories are true. It seems very far fetched that it would go all tge way through the passage and that the captain thought it was warm enough to attempt without having the equipment to deal with the cold without freezing to death. Good video though i hope this is a true story it is mindmelting to think about finding such a thing.

The Sea is a cruel and merciless place to be when you throw caution to the wind. Maybe the captain thought he would gain notoriety for taking this very dangerous north west passage home. Nature must be respected.

The victorians sent two former war ships with 129 men on board to locate and sail the north west passage. Sadly both ships were lost and the crew suffered for six long years in the artic before they all died.

This story has always fascinated and creeped me out loads more than other ghost ships’ stories I heard (like the Mary Celeste’s and the Ouran Medang’s), but all the videos mentioning it I’ve watched didn’t dwelve or even glissed over this. I’m so happy I finally found a video talking about it in details, thank you so much. 👏👍

According to another account they guy carrying the log book allowed the centre pages of the log to fall into the sea. It would have been interesting reading if the captains fingers could keep writing.
