Trying to use a #23 burner in a "Washington Drape" Not many threads engage to screw it in. Is something wrong with the font, or is it designed only to be used with a gallery mounted shade ring? Without an under burner type ring, I think it threads enough to be safe.

It is supposed to fit. Some 23’s threads are not great. You have two choices, force it on or get a model B burner. The B are still the best burner. Cheers .

@Kerosenecanada I guess I wasn't clear enough. It threads on without forcing it. It is just that it seats on the glass in about 1/4 turn. That is WITHOUT a shade ring. With a shade ring, it just barely engages any threads. I'm concerned it would become loose if the lamp was slightly jostled. If the threaded portion of the burner was longer, there'd be no worries. I thought a "B" might have a longer threaded part... or the font design predates the (under burner) shade ring. In any case, perhaps I can find a gallery mounted shade ring. I actually like the look better, but you have to remove the shade each time you light the lamp.

If a #23 will work, ALL the lamps I have can use the same wicks & mantles.

@@lawr5764 if it doesn’t thread down all the way it’s a safety hazard. Go on any Aladdin oil lamp Facebook pages. You won’t find anyone that recommends using them . They were made for over 30 years in China, UK and South America. Some are great, most are so so and a lot are outright trash. The shade ring should not affect the burner installation, if it does than that is an issue. Force it on or throw it out as it’s a safety issue. Cheers

@Kerosenecanada Apperently , I STILL haven't made myself clear. It DOES thread down without force. When it IS down, it only takes 1/2 turn (not 1/4, I checked) to be able to lift it off. There is not enough room under the sides of the burner for a shade ring.
