Circumstances made it that I am the official hoof trimmer these days and honestly I’m years away from being any real good at it but I do my best and it’s working. My farrier Ken Norman can’t come in the way he used to but if I need him he’s a phone call away! Erika Marzak also helped teach me some when she was last here so I’m feeling more confident. We can’t afford a farrier so easily and these are not an easy crew to do.. it’s hard finding farriers that will do big drafts.. understandably. I made the decision to rise up to this challenge and despite getting kicked in the jaw by our pony… falling backwards and snacking my head and next day getting pushed by Maize so hard I skinned my knee and felt my hip crack?! I just keep practicing the Wim Hof method every day and I seem to be going pretty strong. I say seem to be because these “beatings” normally would have set me back a few days… they don’t do that at all anymore and I feel myself getting stronger!
All the horses that are helping us skid logs out of the woods are caught up so now it’s time to make it happen! First stages of getting our shelters up! I’m excited and bracing myself for that level of physicality but I believe… more and more in myself most of all… if I stay strong everyone else will too!
