Hi there, my name is Josh and I live in Juneau and I am looking to get started on kayak fishing here. I was watching a few of your older videos and you were trying to figure out a way of not getting hammered with your halibut weight. I use a method from down south called a drop shot method and it is popular with bass fishing down in the lower 48. I started using this method here the last couple of years and it works for halibut really good. If you look it up on KZbin you will notice the weight is on the bottom below your bait. Any how I thought I would share that little bit of info with you. Good luck and great fishing!

Great call! I am thinking about a twist on the drop shot method for halibut trolling that I want to test out if I can ever get back out. I didn't consider would also alleviate the flying ball of lead, but it certainly would. Thanks for the comment and advice!

Hey, just got stationed in Alaska and want to learn and go out on a kayak. Would you be interested in teaching someone knew or having someome come along?

Just saw this. Lately we haven't been able to get out much. But if you see us out there, you are always welcome. We have a pretty good group here and just about any one of them are willing to help out as well!

Why is there pink flagging tied to the net. Is it doubling as a safety flag?

It adds to the visibility but it also helps us gauge general wind direction and speed.

We make terrible fishing partners since we always make decisions at the last minute. But we always welcome people to fish with us!!!!!

@@RudyT I've never tried kayak fishing in open water so just the experience alone is worth the trip.

@@RudyT Just a lake kayak for now. I can buy a Hobie and a Kokatat suit when the time comes. I already have gear for salmon and halibut fishing.

@@pragmaticpinoy8979 When you say "lake Kayak" do you mean a sit inside kayak? Hobies are awesome, but for a lot of the fishing we do almost any sit on top kayak would work well...with a drysuit.
