Great result Nick. The carrot looks all of 45cm. The other's aren't to sniff about either. I'd cut around the split. It will fit in the pot nontheless 😁🥕🥕 I harvested my brocoli ages ago before cabbage whites appeared. Pretty purple berried (xxxprofusion). I like the mauve daisy plant. Great for pollinators. I'm definitely growing carrots in this bin again, I might raise it up slightly or I could net them to prevent the flies. Going to the shop to get some ingredients for a shepherd's pie 🥧😊👌👍

Hi Nick, great idea to use a bin with a handle on your inground worm bin. We just buried 5 gallon buckets with no holes and Landon has to pull crazy to get them out of the ground! They are my easiest worm bins to manage. ~ Sandra 🥕

@@NanasWorms It was thanks to you why I made one as I watched your video. It was quite easy to pull out but the soil level has dropped because it was mainly compost. Thanks for the inspiration to make it. Just got back from the shop with ingredients for cottage pie as they didn't have any lamb mince left. 👌👍🥧

Great job on the worm bins. I do the same. I’ve got 18 of them and they make a huge difference to the soil. And in the spring, I turned them upside down and harvested all the recycle materials throw into my soil and all over the garden. All these mystery plants suddenly start sprouting quite a miracle honestly, I love my red wigglers. Great job on the Carrots.

Wow cous lots still growing and going, the comfrey looks great. It is getting Canada cold here now and the rains are on the way. My broad beans are doing well I just hope we don’t get our minus 14c again this winter. Collecting leaves 🍁 🍂🍃🍁🍂 here now as they fall. Awesome harvests still, stay warm and dry, Ali 🌞🥶☔️🇨🇦

Lovely big carrots, and your prize one is a whopper! They look juicy and tasty as well. I spread a packet of field beans over an empty bed after harvesting onions and not one came up, mice and squirrels I presume😮. Happy gardening😊 Izzy👍

@@sowgroweat6987 Thanks Mike, it was last year's compost from the tomatoes, it had lots of vermiculite in so didn't want to mix in with the soil, I think it did a great job. I'm definitely doing carrots this way again although I might put a net over or around them next time for extra protection from the root fly.😁👍🥧

@@allotmental. Try the bin method, it was last year's used compost which I sifted again and an old bin that had holes in. Definitely my best ever carrots 👌👍😁

A few years back I started planting onions in between a lot of my early green plants. I never see bugs on my onions, and by adding them, I feel like it has decreased the bug damage on my cabbage, broccoli, and greens ect. I just put a single onion every 3 or 4 feet. And they make onions too.

Slugs have been a real problem this year, I tri put the bin lid on at the start so they wouldn't get eaten but I trapped a couple in there, luckily I found them before they had eaten the seedlings.👍👌😁

Nice carrot Nick, I have insect net bags that fit over 30L tubs for carrots, sowing maincrop carrots in the tubs after first early spuds come out worked really well with the net bags, maybe you can find insect netting for fruit trees that would fit over the bin, I've seen some 1.5x1M when I was shopping around for the tub nets.
