Yes!! I love audiobooks!!! Especially when my life is busy. I love listening to them on my commute, cleaning, walking my doggies and doing mindless work. I am actually a librarian and one of my favorite things to do whole shelving is listen to audiobooks! Sometimes I listen to a book a day especially if I listen to it at 1.5 or 2.0 speed!

I have a question since I’ve just recently started using audiobooks.. How do you listen to them? Like do you just do other things whilst listening or do you read along with a physical copy of a book?
@whatpollyreads59794 жыл бұрын
kirstenrose Hi! Sometimes I listen while doing mindless chores or while eating. Sometimes if I have a physical copy of the book, I listen alongside with it! But I stop listening and just stick to my physical copy if I’m not feeling the narrator. 😂

Naya, so well done! I enjoyed this wrap-up. I want to know what you think about Tiffany Jackson's Monday's Not Coming? I would love to hear your thoughts... I was not a fan of YA books, and as a matter of fact, picked the book for my niece to read for the summer. I read the first page and could not put the book down. The writing hooked me from beginning to end.

Talia Hibbert had other backlisted books like The Ravenswood romance series but they have more of those realistic romance covers. I've only read Get A Life Chloe Brown by her but I'm definitely looking forward to Dani Brown and Eve Brown

I haven't read either of the Brown sisters books, but I've read Guarding Temptation which has a more traditional romance cover and it was fantastic. Short, but packed a punch in terms of enjoyable characters.

All of those books sound really interesting!! Sadly I have been in a really bad reading slump where I'm trying to fall back in love with reading again. But when I read I actually never had a straight forward tbr; it was mainly a tbr of a genre or time period that I wanted to read about.

Same here!!!! I deviated from all my spooky reads and I think it was because of “The Night Circus” I just finished it yesterday and gave it 4 stars on goodreads...because I just needed more from the ending...I loved it...right from the start it felt super cozy and really slow to me..but I couldn’t put it down..now I have all these “spooky books” that will have to wait until next year 🤦🏾♀️

I love supporting Nigerian authors but the description of Ties that Tether really made me hesitant to pick it up. The concept that someone could fear losing their Nigerian cultural identity because of their love interest was...interesting to me lol. But I may have to pick it up to support my Naija sistahs haha!
@Cinia184 жыл бұрын
I thought so too especially as a Nigerian who never lived there but grew up in different European countries. But the book is more than I thought! The reasons and her situation is believable and the romance even though quite cliche at times, it’s way better than the blurb and it’s a solid 3 stars for a debut novel!
@huda94454 жыл бұрын
Spoilers about The Night Circus 🎪 I agree that it’s beautifully written, but it felt like it was a waste of time .. I wanted more of many things ..at least the point of everything, or some kind of mythology of how everything started, the father or the ones who organized things, I want to know more about WHY ... JUST WHY AND HOW ... the only things I liked were the food and tents descriptions. I know I was supposed to get or learn something from it, by I just couldn’t care, because it felt pointless . And I wasn’t convinced by the romance, I’ve read books with instant love that were more convincing and satisfying to read.
@mmorris4044 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I didn't love that novel because of the bare world building and I didn't care for the romance. The weren't that compelling. Lots of nice descriptions to fill the novel but it's so hollow.

I wouldn't say it's the Victorian setting that makes Sherlock HOlmes appealing, but Sir Arhtur Conan Doyle's writing. I love Charles Dickens though, but again, it's the writing, especially with Dickens, since a lot of the settings are somewhat dismal.However, romance was my theme for October along with Big Hero 6. I read a Kasie West book I hadn't picked up before, The Law of Tall Girls, and had a couple of other romance books set to read, but one had too much profanity and the other had that problem too but an even bigger issue, and the fact that it was compared to Judy Blume should've been a clue that it was NOT for me.
