This was shortly after a 51-day bus strike during the coldest part of the year. It gives you an idea of how many commuters were stranded. I wound up renting cars and eventually buying one after ten years of riding buses.

Well, the guy who posted the video said in the description that it was virtually impossible to see the route numbers unless he was standing right next to the bus. So I thought he was saying they didn't have side window displays.

Me too! Plus, I'm helping to restore 2 OTC streetcars so that they hopefully will run when LRT kicks in. The only problem is that were hoping that Bombardier can fix up the 2 old motors. =)

I have no idea... they were too lazy or rushed to even put it right side up. Interestingly enough, 9219 had a proper Ottawa logo back in 2003 but had gotten one that was upside down a few years later. I noticed that most of the D40s (except 9011) have botched maple leaf liveries.... there is no real good reason for that. It's not even like they were the last buses to be repainted either (9011 was repainted as of August 2000 and the rest of the D40s didn't undergo rebuilds/repaints until 2002-2003, possibly even early 2004).

If they got rid of the Express buses they could make more effective use of both the stations (where too many people are waiting for their express bus) and of the buses as Express buses are emptier than the 90 route series of buses. Surface LRT would be much more efficient and faster and you would not need to take 3 or 4 long escalators down to the deep DOTT subway stations they are planning.

I hate when they pick up passengers too far back and then pass the proper pick-up area. There should be more "off loading only" signs posted 150m back from the stop marker.

Probably one of the reasons they've added a lot of double-decker buses to the fleet is that they take up less room at busy stops.
