Exactly. We cannot separate the birth of Christ from the death, and resurrection of Christ. It is easy to forget that simple, yet powerful fact at Christmastime. Easier to place Christ in a safe little box that offers the illusion that we are in control. Thank you for making this video.

It matters not when Jesus Christ was born, nor when we celebrate. We could have it today if you want? What matters is that Jesus Christ is God's Son and Saviour. As a Christian this is what I believe. As for the deceit of satan? Which Bible do you read? He was defeated when Jesus rose from the dead. The only deceit here is that you may not believe my friend. Blessings be upon you.

@lilbacon3 Rhyming a naysayer's dream propelled by Pharisaical scheme, you can add hominems to your self-righteous diatribe but you can't subtract joy from His Holy bride. God became man, dates be damned (as were we). But the price was paid when He took His Seat on Calvary. So at the death of each year, through metaphor and simile, we sacrifice to give others life through the giving of gifts born of humility. If we can extend His Love for us, then yes...we celebrate willingly...

Hear the trumpet call. If you focus on petty things like what day he was born on you have little faith. Who cares what day he was born on? You obviously... We pick that day just so we have a day to celebrate. If it is a pagan day. Who cares? Because we only worship God not the devil. So don't get all worked up on something that doesn't even matter. As Paul said to one man everyday is worth the same. Read your Bible and don't worry about these petty things

@reduxinflux ZOMG! EPIC YT COMMENT RAP BATTLE! This will change the world. I'm no lyricist, but the facts remain that Christmas is a sugar-coated day rooted in Pagan worship. I find joy everyday in my life, as all humans should. It's ridiculous to celebrate life and God's gifts in the confines of a single day not mentioned in that famous book. Jesus said to continue remembering him before his death, but I must've missed the part about bunnies and eggs and lies of fat flying guys and reindeer.
@reduxinflux
@reduxinflux 12 жыл бұрын
@lilbacon3 i totally understand where you're coming from...i do :) but God created the world...everything belongs to Him. Christmas may share the same frame as Pagan (worldly) tradition, but the foundation is His. He is the Chief cornerstone. The whole bunny thing during easter (to celebrate Spring/Fertility) is crap. That robs from the blunt beauty of Passover. But the Santa legend (rooted in Christian tradition under James 1:27) can be redeemed if it points to Christ-right?

@Mattigan1978 There's plenty of widely-available information on the subject. First of all, Jesus exact birth date is never given in the scriptures. Don't you think it's a little strange that the most important man to walk the earth, with all of the other specific information we have about him, that we don't know his birth date? It's also stated the day of one's death is better than that of birth. (Eccl.7:1) Christmas was created by pagans to attract Christians and it's worked. Wikipedia. ;)

12/16/05 From God The Father - A Letter Given to Timothy, For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear - Regarding the modern holidays of men Thus Says The Lord: "Peoples of the earth, stop breaking My Commandments, and blaspheming My name and the name I have given My Son! You shall not associate His name with sin, nor shall you honor Him with pagan rituals and polluted traditions, lest I reject you as I had rejected the pagans who were before you!... His name shall only be for a song on your lips, a sweet-smelling savor. I shall speak plainly, so those slow to understanding may hear, though their ears are dull and their eyes are dim: These modern holidays, Christmas, Easter and Halloween, are an abomination in the eyes of The Lord God Almighty! Therefore I shall destroy all pagan traditions, even every perverse holiday of men!... Behold! I shall wipe them from the face of the whole earth, on that day! FOR I AM THE LORD, AND I AM COMING DOWN TO MAKE A SWIFT END!... And no more shall you break My Commandments, and revel in sin, in The Son’s name." ~ "Have I not given you Holy Days, in which you were to honor My Son? Yet you forget them all, even the seventh day of each week, which you were to remember and keep holy. For I, The Lord, do not change... What do all these traditions of men have to do with Me?! And why do you them in The Son’s name?! Give the gift of His name, for by His name alone are you saved! There is no other! Stop these vain babblings therefore! You speak these things in ignorance of the Truth! Shut your mouths! Cease from all this blasphemy!... Be silent before your God, and speak to Me in spirit. Know you not, that you have all become as the pagan and the heathen, by which all your holidays have their origins? Abomination! This world has seduced you, and the harlot has led you into temptation by her false witness!..." regarding the holidays of men | letteranswers

#1 You Blapheme God when you presume to speak for Him beyond that which is written in the 66 books of the bible You are a false prophet. #2 This is also known as the Genetic Fallacy., the idea that something must always carry the same meaning and cannot be altered or changed from its origins. You are right Christmas and most of its practices have nothing to do with Christ originally nor do they now for the unregenerate unbeliever. But since God owns everyday We as Christians can take all those things that belong to God anyways and change their meaning and celebrate our King.

Oh, I had a feeling this wasn't going to be as interesting as the movie (it's obviously not related), but I didn't expect to find a comments section full of Jesus freaks. Praising an uncaring god wouldn't bother me so much if you people didn't do it with "god is with us" and "jesus is the only way!" It's creepy and little different than a cult... actually it is a cult, but that's a can of worms I'm too indifferent to open and argue about.

Had to hit pause when dude spoke of Jesus experiencing “judgment,” and “God's fury," and of his being “punished” in our stead. That's called penal substitution and it's practically a heresy. Jesus wasn't punished by the Father in his wrath. God doesn't "punish" innocents--- and Jesus was completely innocent---no matter what. Jesus freely chose to identify with our humanity in order to deliver us from the curse of sin and death that came into the world against his ordained will. He took on our human nature in order to empower it with his own divinity. I love Beautiful Eulogy but I'm definitely not feeling all these crazy Calvinistic ideas that go against orthodox Christianity. I highly recommend everyone watching this video to check out the work “On the Incarnation,” by St. Athanasius--an early church writer.
@ohplease7245
@ohplease7245 10 жыл бұрын
I find it so entertaining how loosely people throw around the word "heresy." Heresy eh? According to whom? According to you? Or According to the historic catholic faith? The historic Church defines what is and what is not heresy, not private judgment. The historic holy catholic and orthodox faith deems what Odd has said as "orthodoxy." Athansiaus does not contradict anything spoken here. In fact most of the fathers held a high view of God's sovereignty in tension with human free will, like Augustine and also much later Calvin (Calvin's theology what primarily founded upon reading the Fathers by the way). So I am not sure what you mean by all these 'crazy calvinistic ideas.' You response sound emotive and reactionary rather than informed. It appears that you are confused by both the new resurgence of alleged Calvinism (which is not historical Reformed Christianity) on the one hand, and your own ignorance on of Historical Christianity's sustained tension between divine sovereignty and human responsibility. Both are always held in tension as many other orthodox doctrines like the Trinity the two natures of Christ, etc. Both are seen in the earliest Christian literature, including the Didache. See the Way of Life (Did. 1.1-3.9) exhibiting human responsibility, and (Did. 3.10) exhibiting divine sovereignty over all events. This was characteristic of the popular theology of Second Temple Judaism and bled over into early Christianity. So throwing around the "heresy" card so loosely certainly lacks credibility, especially when you are contradicting time tested Christian dogma that both Catholic and Protestant agree on. This is precisely what the Mormons' and Jehovah's witnesses do.
@superstealth7
@superstealth7 10 жыл бұрын
OhPlease! When I wrote, "all these crazy Calvinistic ideas," I was referring specifically to the "penal substitution" theory of atonement. I should not have made such a sweeping statement like that. It's the idea that Jesus was punished in our place and that he felt the brunt of God's anger towards sin-- His wrath. That is what I have a problem with… and it seems to me that this idea that is “practically heresy" because it's not supported by the historic, Apostolic, Orthodox and Catholic faith. Everything else that Odd said is kosher of course. The "penal substitution" theory of atonement is basically a misappropriation of an idea that St. Anselm seemed to have originated in the 12th century or so. Anyway, "penal substitution" theory of atonement is definitely not a dogma, at least not in the Catholic Church. It's unsupported by the Fathers and completely foreign. There are, thowever, other ways of looking at atonement that are orthodox and are supported by the Fathers. For now, I don't think I can explain it any further… this blog post does a pretty good job though: www.calledtocommunion.com/2010/04/catholic-and-reformed-conceptions-of-the-atonement/

Hebrews 9:26-28 26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

@safeharborpro

Can you prove your side of the story that this is a myth? What proof do you have other than just your statement of disbelief? God is more than just morals, he calls us to a loving relationship with him and chooses to walk beside us and dwell within us. What other deity has promised that? What other deity came and died for our sins, was buried, and rose again proving that he is the conqueror of sin, death and hell? My hope for you is that you look beyond and see God as more than just this "Moral Monster" and see him as a loving, merciful, gracious Father who wants to welcome you in as his child.
@Lucifronz
@Lucifronz 6 жыл бұрын
"What other deity has promised that?" ...most of them? Lots of gods claim to be a guide for their worshippers. Or rather, lots of people like you claim their gods do that, yet you've never seen an iota of evidence supporting it. "What other deity came and died for our sins, was buried, and rose again proving that he is the conqueror of sin, death and hell?" Osiris? I mean being murdered isn't quite the same thing... or is it? Technically Jesus just got nailed to a cross and everyone pretends that's somehow some sort of amazing sacrifice. If I let someone nail me to a cross and claim it's dying for your sins, do I get a cult, too? Actually, knowing how stupid people are about religion, I probably would. Ever consider facing your problems on your own and not depending on an invisible force that, even should he exist, shows total and utter apathy towards you? "My hope for you is that you look beyond and see God as more than just this "Moral Monster" and see him as a loving, merciful, gracious Father who wants to welcome you in as his child." Ugh, your language is irritatingly preachy. My hope for *you* is that you snap out of your delusion and stop pretending to know everything.

Haha ignorant defense at it's best here. Both christian and whatever you two call yourselves. God himself needs no defense, he was God before he was called God. Problem here isn't someone is right it's that you're both wrong and yet blind to your ignorance. Christians should know Yeshua(Jesus) walked with sinners, he did not drag sinners. One comes to a faith upon one's free will. If you truly believe these things you would not need to defend them. Those who make fun of God are indeed funny because you only prove he is real by supplying the need for him. So is the christian who thinks he's Christ "No one come onto the father but through me" you cannot save anyone but only ask they walk with you if not keep walking don't hold yourself behind. Let the shepherd herd us home, fish for men with a net not a line that will break, often snapped by man himself. We are brought from darkness of course they don't see a loving father who cherishes their soul. Vibrational hums will reach their ears eventually.

I don't agree, God is more real than you and I. He was here before we were and always will be. He is perfect and holy and beautiful in all ways. Christ is love and light. Christ is the way. He is better than anything on this Earth. No drug or thrill can come close to the perfect feeling He can give His sheep.

This is so full of bullshit. I wish humanity got rid of this fairytale.

They'd just fill it with some other bullshit. People like to be led around like sheep. Believing some greater power is watching over them lets them pretend their life isn't just full of crap and unfair. "It's all part of a greater purpose. God wants this for us!" the mother chants as her child slowly dies of cancer because she didn't change the asbestos out of her ceiling.

I thought your other comment was awful this is even worse. Cancer is a manifestation of man not God, for disobeying God's 'commands' I wouldn't call them that though they're really helpful words of advice. You look at food it has instructions.Carrots are good for the eyes, you cut open a carrot it looks like an eye I wonder why. That is unfortunate that you listen to such bullshit as you say "greater purpose" for those people they are fools like you think. They brought it on themselves, living in sin brings death it's pretty simple, you do things your body isn't made for it will suffer that's sin. God wants none of that for you and any Christian that says that isn't a Christian. You my friend have been watching the wrong things and I'm sorry you been turned from the way by those who thought they were following it. The pain and suffering that exists we brought it on ourselves like literally the gospel spells it out God Our Sins Paying Everyone Life. Like even every word is a chapter of the testaments. Adam stands for mankind when he ate we all did, it's generational sin, a habit, habits like blaming God when we chose it. He told us not to, we still did, the bible is literally a joke about us fucking up again and again to a God who like a father picks us up and gives us more chances. Furthermore ever heard 'it's about the journey not the destination'? We're all in a storm we can't see the brighter side because we're all saying it's this way or that collectively confusing each other with lies. How can you see any good if you just argue all day about what life isn't and not seek what life is. Be sober friend, seek truth and you will find it. But all I see you doing now is giving up on your family that loves you.

Umm who decided that Christ was born on December 25th? As for me, I wish to in no way associate Christ with anything Pagan. I will not mix the holy with the unholy! Worship in Spirit and Truth beloved. Honor God, and not the traditions of man, even of they coat it over with Christ. A glass of water with a drop of poison is still poison, only a fool would drink from it
