Love your videos as always! Small correction at 1:19, birds don’t have XX/XY sex chromosomes. They use ZZ/ZW, and females are actually the ones with the heteromorphic pair (ZW) instead of males.

Fun fact, this trait is what allows individual cuckoos of the same species to have very different-looking eggs. While cuckoos parasitize many other species of bird, female cuckoos will *always* lay their eggs in the same type of nest they were raised in. Because the trait for egg coloration is on the W chromosome, which is always given to them from their mom, it allows each “line” of mother-daughter cuckoos to have different colored eggs without mixing with the other cuckoos in their species. This is what has led to their egg mimicry being so effective on such a variety of other species. (If you’re interested in reading more about this topic, search “common cuckoo egg morphs”)

Wait... don't birds have WZ sex chromosomes, not XY? As in, a male bird has ZZ and a female bird has WZ? They're thought to develop when a female ovum (egg cell) doesn't split properly, so instead of just containing a W chromosome, it also contains a Z, each one in a separate nucleus. So it's like having two ova cells in one. When it's fertilised, by the male Z-containing gametes, it results in one-half of the bird having the male pairings (ZZ) and the other containing the female pairing (WZ).

I just made a comment about this! Haha I should’ve looked harder to see if anyone else mentioned it first. ... I just got remembered why I subscribed xD These videos with everything feel like a kids show here in germany called "die Sendung mit der maus" it is a show that shows kids (and the grown ups too) how things work or how they are produced. And it's the same vibe. It's calm, doesn't make you seem like an idiot and tells you the correct terms for what happens or how the tools work and stuff. And now I have found the english equivalent for that, but with animals. I love it. The whole arrangement is calm and nice and you just enjoy learning.

Your meditation vibe in your videos is unique and really captivating. One little thing that breaks the flow for me is the "faux-raccord" when in the close up you point in the left page of the book and in the next cut your pointing in the opposite side of the book. It gets me out of the ambiance every time. Thanks for your really enjoyable videos!

That singular paragraph in that book must be the Holy Grail of bird tidbits haha. Edit: I actually tagged that generic "Eagle" sound as a Red-Tailed Hawk when I was young. I'd always wondered why they'd use the same sound for eagles and whatnot in movies and cartoons. I lived in the PNW most of my life, so I knew what a Bald Eagle sounds like. I searched out different bird noises at the library (I spent most of my after-school days at the library, as I enjoyed reading). I love that the "truth" is coming out haha. It's interesting what mainstream media can change or twist factually.
