£100 Clio 182 Project. part 2

In this video we are back working on the Renault Clio 182, it keeps playing up! maybe one day it will be fault free...... doubt it though ha ha.

For a long time people believe the "5k kick" on these was the timing shift, it's actually the engine hitting Volumetric Efficiency, the dephaser activates very low in the rev range. The kick is also meant to be smoother on the 182 4-2-1 manifold as opposed to the 172's 4-1.

Great video, clever editing too. Definitely think you should keep the Clio as stock as possible, too many of them have ended up as track hacks and been scrapped as a result - this one is too nice for that. I have never had any issues with water ingress in my Clio, but I have had my interior lights (including the dash) conk out halfway through a lap at wanneroo raceway during a night tuning session a few years ago. That gave the old sphincter a workout.

Some things don't change. My MK3 Clio scuttle clogged up causing sitting water to seize the wiper motor and the alternator went after being sat for a year unused. At 150k miles it's just passed its latest MOT though with no advisories so just goes to show that not all Renaults are dogs!

Really pleased I stumbled across this channel. Great content and great cars. Had a 172 cup back in the day and the only issue I had was a seized brake caliper. Fun to drive and pretty quick.

I'll never get the hate for renault, owned a few with zero issues, even bought a scenic for £1k as a work horse, never serviced it, thrashed it and it never let me down in 4 years, yet in them 4 years I had a mate with a bmw need a new gearbox, a mate with an audi a4 with loads of little issues, another mate with an audi a3 that was in the garage for ages and ended up with a £4k bill. Noubt wrong with them, I bet if a bmw had been left for that long it'd have more wrong with it and it would cost a fortune to get it running again a

Hi, i love old Renault, got something, PS. I got in my first Renault Megane Coupe same issue with water droping on BSI module, remeber to check where the water comes from, it came propably from the front windshield gasket! Greetings from Poland :)

I own 1.5 dci 2005 200hp stage 2 with custom turbo from c.m.t italy , heavily modded, maybe its more than 200hp 😅 , planning to buy 182 Trophy there is one in very good condition in my town for 8k € and mod that or keep that aswell

To be fair Clios, I had a load of Mk.2s including a few RenaultSports. They were reliable as heck, and never let me down once. I abused them all. Also I bet that alternator isn't French - those Mk.2 Clios are full of German electronics!

Good video. Love a Renaultsport clio. The damp in that part where the BCM is will likely be the scuttle drains that are blocked. Check them.

I was going to start with why Frenchies why? 😅 But to be fair the car did sit for 9 years. I had a Citroen Picasso. I know I sound boring but I loved that I could remove all the seats, voila, spacious mini van. But it had a terrible unfortunate problem of cutting out while turning 😱 not so much fun while you in a round about. 😂

Have you looked at the drains in the front where the wiper motor and mechanism. They sometimes are brock with leaves, etc, and cause water to dam and make it's way through into the car. Could've been where the moisture came from that was on the relays. Maybe check it out. Thanks for the videos. Very informative. I've just discovered your channel and I'm loving the content quality... I owned a 182 and had many issues with it. Once I got it running properly it was a fun car to drive, that VVT kick I remember took me by surprise the first time. Does your accelerator pedal "click" too when fully depressed? I never knew or bothered to find out why they do this...
