A very nice, informational video. The 6464 series was brought out because of the other manufacturers, especially AMT, producing O gauge cars that were scale or close to scale, compared to the Lionel offerings. They didn't quite match the AMT cars for scale size, but were close and were very nicely detailed. They did the same with the Super Speedliners, because of AMT's streamlined O gauge passenger cars, which Lionel didn't offer. I have a few of the 6464 cars, some original and some the reissues. They are good looking cars. Keep up the excellent videos.

Thanks for the comments and support. Yeah, Lionel was a little late to the party with these cars, but when they did, I like what they did. There is a reason they are highly collected. I have many more oddballs to show over the next few years. Glad you enjoyed it. Brian.

The unstamped car has staple end trucks. This had to be super early production because staple end trucks were discontinued prior to 1953. Very interesting and informative.

You should do Factory errors for MPC Lionel! I've got a Rio Grande boxcar that's missing a black stripe on one side.

Thanks for the comment. This channel does mostly focus on Postwar Lionel. There are definitely some cool MPC factory errors and reject out there!. I have some really cool postwar ones to share including some incredible Rio Grande boxcar errors coming in future episodes. Brian.

Neat cars. I’m used to seeing the WP cars with a feather on the side. Did those come out later?

Yes, the 6464-1 is a Western Pacific boxcar as shown. The 6464-100 is a Western Pacific as well, but with a silver body and a yellow feather across the side. It came out a year later. Thanks. Brian.
