The T18E2 Boarhound in War Thunder is a 3.0 Premium Event Vehicle for USA. This light tank is an 8 wheel monster that can scout, bounce shots and penetrate anything it faces.

The T18E2 is a pretty versatile beast. It can navigate roads and hard terrain very quickly. This American light tank is now my favourite vehicle in War Thunder.
This Boarhound is equipped with a 57mm M1 Cannon that has 122mm of penetration with an APHE round with 40g of explosive filler. It doesn't sound like much, but it's VERY capable of one shotting every tank at this battle rating through the front. Not only that, the round travels 800m/s so it's nice and flat. A very easy to aim gun!
Unfortunately the T18 E2 Boarhound in War Thunder is now sold out. It does drop in loot crates every so often but it's VERY expensive to buy. Hopefully Gaijin brings it back for an event!

@@emossg the seller determines the price and it's up to buyers to determine if it's worth purchasing at that price. they determine the price normally based on rarity and combat effectiveness. A tank that is garbage isn't gonna sell for much even if it's rare. Right now those vehicles from the recent event are going for +-30$ because a crap ton of ppl are selling them. But when that stock runs out expect the price to rise by allot. So if you want the leopard c2a1 or F11F-1 you should get it now.

Damn, I really have never seen what the T18 could do. That 57 is amazing. Can you picture that gun on a Chaffee? The pen, ballistics, stab, reload rate and lower weight. that thing would have been a beast!

Before the marketplace, if you missed an event vehicle you couldn't get it at all. The last event was the same for the first tier of vehicles, since they were not coupons. Event vehicles are usually fairly cheap to buy after an event, then the price gradually goes up. Some old event vehicles also get brought back on occasion (like the Pak Puma/AEC/M8, as alternatives to the T-34E as rewards in the IS-7 event). I liked this idea, having an event where one of the rewards is to select from a pool of previous event vehicles you may have missed.

The 57mm in the Boarhound is the same 57mm as found in some British tanks. Could try something like the Crusader III and Valentine IX at 3.0, or the Cromwell I and M4A5 at 3.7, see if you can get lucky again.

When I first saw this beast on the event vehicles list I immediately fell in love with it. First game I got 15 kills on fields of Normandy and no deaths, that was during the event so the mobility was shocking to say the least and it could only go 22mph max on anything. That being said one of them still exists in the Bovington tank museum conservation centre and I'd love to see it rebuilt and restored to operational status. The M1 57mm cannon is the US license built British 6pdr which is why the muzzle velocity is so high as well as the penetration and reload rate.

I've mained American GF since it was a thing (And germans with the german sherman when it wasn't) and slowly amassed various event vehicle, m8 greyhound, m8a1, t18e2, m3a1 usmc, m2a4 1st army, LVTA4, LVT ZIS, PV-2D, PBM-3, etc I've played all the BRs and always come back to this area around 3.0-4.0 because its just such a great lineup

T18E2 & A36 is my go-to Fun Mode playlist lmao great vehicles and the boarhound cleans house. P.S. if you ever play boarhound again and get Fortress just stick to the outside so you don't have to deal with the hills and stuff

I remember when this thing came out, I wanted it for the novelty of it being 8x8 but also because I'd experienced the the M1 57mm gun before on the Soviet SU-57 - at the end of the day it's literally a US-made 6-pounder but with APHE shells, it's brutal. Also it has some decent front armour for an armoured car and can surprise-bounce shots every now and again too. The 57mm should in fact be in at least one other US tank - the M7 medium tank, which the Boardhound actually uses the entire turret from - it was meant to be a really advanced light tank but ended up being ruined when the design brief was changed so it had to somehow be better than the M4 while also lighter and have the same armour, so unsurprisingly it failed. The turret was designed to take either the US 75 or the British 6-pounder, as it does on the Boarhound, so it would be like the Boardhound but faster offroad. Would be a good pair of nested low-tier mediums with the 75-armed version, hopefully it might make it into the game eventually.

That 57mm M1 cannon is actually a British 6lb AT gun made under licence for this vehicle specifically. I don't think you'll find it on another vehicle. Weird it seems to perform a lot better!

If I am not mistaken M1 is just the American designation for the British 6 pdr so tanks like the Crusader III and Cromwell I have the same gun but without the APHE (APHECBC). I can highly recommend the Crusader III, its a criminally underrated tank with reasonable manoeuvrability, amazing turret traverse, a stabiliser (just some blokes shoulder but it works), high pen with APCBC, a rapid reload (4 secs with an ace crew), great gun depression, a low profile, flat ballistics and yet its still only 2.7! Sure its a glass cannon but damn is it a good cannon.

I remember when this first xame came out prices went from $10-$15 USD to $100+ USD in a week....why is that aloud? Gaijin also has major supply, and demand issues as well. Great combo though just wish I had both not just the A36.
