@@OddityArchive I know this is a few months late, but try the Wii's New Super Mario Bros. if you're looking for a 'proper' Mario title, as a non-gamer would call it... I think. That's an actual 2D platformer and the first for a console since Super Mario World, during the Super Nintendo's launch. Just... don't touch the multiplayer mode. You will lose friends; the levels were clearly designed for the one player and you'll be bouncing off eachother's heads like a pair of comedians talking about Baseball.

I used to work at a Savers (or Value Village as it's called here in the PNW) and I've never seen my store do baggies of loose CDs. I worked in production and we were always obligated to outright dispose of any loose discs if we couldn't find its case.

Nice, the Wii is a great console to play around with! No innuendo intended. The first two Paper Mario games (for Nintendo 64 and GameCube) are much better than Super Paper Mario, and you can play GameCube discs on the Wii with no problems (though you'll need a GameCube controller for it; no backwards compatibility with the controllers, natch.) If you get around to setting up the console for homebrew, you can run a lot of different types of games on it with emulation. It makes a great all in one retro gaming system, even to this day.

Hell of a score on that RCA camcorder! Even if you can't record directly to tape on it, you can still capture the output either to a VCR to keep with the VHS aesthetic, or even record directly to a capture card and skip using tape altogether. I'd be really happy if I came across that in a thrift store around here! This video inspired me to go take a look at the Salvation Army store < 1.5 miles from my house in a little while on my trip home from visiting a friend in the hospital, it's right by the bus stop I'll be getting off at anyway, might as well check it out for the first time in a year or so. If there's anything worth a damn, I'll edit this comment or just leave a reply to it, though I don't really expect much from this store at all, they almost NEVER have anything of interest outside of the time I found a bunch of Star Wars EU books there at 5 for a dollar. Wish me luck!

Love your haul, the Wii was a great score, the Polynesian stuff fascinates me, being part Polynesian myself (Maori) the epithet savage is thrown around a lot. You could always use that empty tape case for a loose tape. I did that once with a CD whose case was busted. I bought and ate a chocolate CD, cleaned out the case it was in (exactly like your standard regular CD case), and put the CD in. I still have it in the case to this day, though I'm sure if someone comes across my collection they'll be confused as heck, LOL.

If you thought $40 was a good price for a preowned Wii Console, I found one earlier in the week just left outside my local Tender Centre, and when I inquired about it, the proprietors there said I can have it for free! Sure it might not have had the cords and cables for it, but I did test it out, and it works perfectly (I happen to have the cords and cables back home). In a similar fashion to your Wii console, it also had a bonus game inside, but while yours had Wii Sports in there, I had Super Smash Bros Melee inside. Not bad at all for a good deal!

Hey! That radio station demo DVD has our crummy soft rock station (Magic 106.7), better known as "dentist office music." Makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it. Between you and LGR, you guys find better, more interesting things than I ever do. Best thing I ever found, and I kick myself for not picking any up and this was years ago, was a 1980's big box VHS of Transformers episodes. They had little fold outs on the cover with little comic strips with scenes from the episodes. I'm sure the VHS were in bad, or even destroy the VCR condition. They were F.H.E's after all, probably dubbed in SLP mode. But those boxes were beauties. I would have been happy just putting them in frames and tossing the old tapes out.

I took a look into that "Fishdom" game at 9:24, and it's not even a girls game. It's a cheap repacakging of one of those numerous Bejeweled clones, but with fish and ocean stuff. It's not really an oddity, but it's a bit of PC gaming history. Before casual games became smartphone apps riddled with pay-to-win mechanics and microtransactions, they were simple games you paid for once. Walmart sold a lot of these kinds of games back in the day, and they still do so today. A lot of the casual game audience has moved on to smartphones, along with Fishdom. As for the Wii, I do have some game recommendations. You can easily find New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Mario All Stars for classic Mario platforming action. For something like Super Mario 64, there is Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Beware of shovelware. The Wii is notorious for low-budget shovelware and Wii Sports clones, and those tend to be the lowest priced games too. If you can get past the shovelware, you can find a lot of fun Wii games that are worth your time. You will need to get used to using motion controls in certain games like the Super Mario Galaxy series.

I'd never thought I'd hear the words "Leisure Suit Larry for Kids" as a description for "Super Paper Mario". Anyway, you now should get an SD card, add a copy of "LetterBomb" onto it, and install RiiConnect24 on that Wii, as the servers for WiiConnect24 shut down some time back. You also might want to download Nintendont for the Gamecube games (provided your system doesn't have Gamecube compatibility) and for compatibility with the Sega/Namco Triforce arcade machines.

Use a soldering iron to warm up the rivet and pull it apart when the rivet has warmed up the plastic it's stuck in, and then do it again in reverse to put it back together... or don't, just jam it back together. I've never had that many issues with the black Warner carts, I just practiced on a few sacrificial carts on where to reach the tabs. The later white sonicly welded ones I still haven't found a better way than hope and a knife. And jeeze, $4 for an 8 track? Yikes, it pains me to pay more than a dollar, and 8 track is most of what I collect at this point
@Musicradio77Network5 жыл бұрын
Warner was company that put out 8-track in a “death cartridge” in which Benny Boy called it. I used to have 8-track tapes of these, and many of them are “Death Cartridges” like Audiopak and Capitol. Both Capitol and Audiopak 8-track White cartridges had a screw in the middle which was repairable. Other Capitol black cartridges had no screw in the middle and 2 grips on the corner in which you can pry it open which was a tough challenge.
