I know TCM has a silent animation special scheduled for next Thursday.

Nice collection, I’ve never owned any of the Blackhawk titles on standard 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm sound, but I have the Castle Films collection featuring a few Woody Woodpecker and the ComiColor cartoons as well as special interest and holiday titles which were silent with interstitial title cards just like they did with the silent movies of the 1910’s and 1920’s, as well as several WB cartoons on 8mm that were made by AAP with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes, and they’re part of my collection, and also, I have all three movie projectors including my Kodak Super Showtime 8, GAF 3000S Super 8 Sound Projector and my Kodak Pageant 16mm sound projector, all three are still working.

15:07 - in the final episode of Archive, you could suddenly remember the secret of what the key opens and go on a quest to a box buried in the desert

The stray key reminds me of the key to the case for my mom's old typewriter. Perhaps there was a similar little lock mechanism on the case for someone's projector back in the day.

"Ladies, Remove Your Hats" immediately brings to my mind that old Ernie and Bert sketch where Ernie's sitting behind a woman with an incredibly tall hat, only to ask nicely so she could put it on the seat next to her, obstructing Bert's view.

This was very interesting. Looking into Elderbush gulch, but is a hard one to find. My grandparents had an 8mm projector. Lord knows where it iz now.

Ben, are there any Archive Annex film uploads that you'd want its sound improved? I'm into digitally restoring broken/damaged records, mulched tape, or just improving bad sound. It would be fun to experiment, and I'd be happy to email a sample clip (or whole thing) of whatever you suggest. Ironic that you'd have Alfalfa's wonky singing on the good copy though!

I think all my (specifically film) Annex uploads are silent. I think I've only excerpted sound stuff on regular OA episodes.

@@OddityArchive Still worth checking out. One of my only good school memories from the earlier 80s--we watched 16mm prints of Laurel & Hardy silent shorts

Seeing this makes my heart ache, since my 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm projectors got destroyed in Hurricane Harvey. In addition to the VHS Camcorder and VHS-C Camcorders I had salvaged. So much of my memories from the 70's 80's and early 90's were lost to that storm. I wish I could replace it all, but even now 5 years later, I still haven't recovered enough financially to even try to.

@@TheBambam2371 Thank You. It has taken me 5 years to get back to maybe 60% of where I was. However setback always happen in everyone's lives. So I'm not someone special. The biggest heartache was losing my father's Wollensak reel to reel recorder he used in the 60's as a reporter and his Sony Pressman portable.

The please don't spit on floor one probably was put out to curtail the spread of the Spanish Flu.
@m.k.81582 жыл бұрын
depends on the time frame-don't spit on floor messages were often used as an attempt to reduce the spread of Tuberculosis.

The Johnstown flood was in 1889 (the reference made), so not Spanish Flu related.

I love that script font they use for the Blackhawk films logo.

@4:00 - why can't you show it off? you are just demonstrating not selling .. and the category they fall under , either public domain or fair use... One could also sell them after advertising them, like on ebay for example.. not sure what the problem is.... possibly some more info on our side if you could. Kinda pointless just showing the boxes at least for me because I'm aware of all these releases.. wanted to see the quality of the 8mm prints.
@OddityArchive2 жыл бұрын
Some of it has appeared on OA in the past (pretty much any film/projector episode I’ve done). If I can ever get a proper Blackhawk episode to fruition, there’d be footage there of course.
