This is why I do all basic car maintenance myself, I'm too embarrassed to have others see my dirty car. And a home oil change is cheaper.

It depends, but it is not really worth it to save a few dollars. If you shop around and/or use coupons, you could find out you're only saving about $5-$15. This compounds if you don't factor the upfront costs like jacks, jack stands, oil pans, etc. That could take YEARS of home oil changes to just only break even. There are mitigating factors that changes this formula, so everyone's mileage may vary. The point that needs to be made though is why not just clean your car? You can in the time it takes to do your own oil change.
