I am a Social Worker that works a Inpatient Psych Unit.. A mentally ill highly psychotic patient told me about Odesza... I am forever grateful for her introducing me to this Artist. I am forever hooked. This lady knows her music. That's why I love working the field of Mental Health.. they are more knowledgeable and deserves more credit than society gives them. I have worked the hospital ER as security we did patient watch before covid. After the prison got infected with covid they had to house all the cases in one wing of the hospital. In another hospital i worked i had to sit in the same room as a woman who refused a ventilator and keep her from falling asleep or shed die. This music gives me comfort.

I think the whole "spaceship" story is a metaphor for isolation and coping with it. Learning to find yourself in solitude, as the cosmonaut learns to fall in love with the "sound". All the songs on the album are in some way related to separation, isolation, conflict driving people apart or people being drawn together. Hence the album title, A Moment Apart. Really just a brilliant work all around.

For me. Some of the best music I have experienced always reminds me of the passage of time. Makes me reflect on all the memories, the good, the bad, the hard, the ugly, the triumphs the laughs, the uniqueness. Can't help but leave me in tears. Some of Odesza's songs are some of those.
