That was a character tick I noticed. Throughout the whole game, whenever Thor got uncomfortable or upset, he would instinctively look away or break eye contact with whoever was talking, like with Thrud and Sif. Seeing him try it one more time in his final moments was just heartbreaking

This scene is so amazing. We have Odin belittling Thor, then killing Thor for no reason, and even then still trying to manipulate him into believing he's the good guy. Then he tries to tell Thrud that Kratos and Atreus are the bad guys. Golden Villain right there. He's not sympathetic, but in the not lazy way

What I find most interesting about this beautiful game? They show gods as humans! Those characters are all flawed. Thor was a lost soul, an instrument of his father. In his final moments, he has shown his true colours. He wasn't evil. He was human, even if portrayed as a god. Same as the people who had invented any deities. They just wanted someone like themselves to be in charge, but idealised. Thor, god of thunder. A broken man. He tries hard. And fails. Like us.

Well yeah? Kratos never even wanted to fight him let alone kill him. He could have easily just decapitated with the leviathan axe and called it a day. (Please don't take this comment the wrong way, it's me appreciating the character writing, not complaning about it) I gotta say, the utter AUDACITY of this man to not only kill his own son, not only do so a fucking nanosecond after he refuses to follow ONE order, but to tell him WHILE STABBING HIM "I didn't want this". Twice. Even just acknowledging (much less taking) responsibility for his own actions is such an immensely foreign concept to Odin that he'd rather die than admit his own faults. It's nuts.

Maybe, when Thor died, his body disintegrated into blue light, while the other gods (Magni, Modi, Baldur, and Heimdall) didn’t disintegrate into blue light, their corpses just layed there on the ground. This may mean that Thor’s soul may have made its way to the light of Alfheim, where he could be resurrected like Brok did.

@@thorveim1174 Baldur was there to find faye not fight kratos. And odin literally asked for peace but kratos said NO. (Yeah sure he doesn't trust gods but that's beside the point, odin honored his part). Yes they were abusive and hated each other but asgard was still stading, heimdall was fine but he gone angry since he knows what people really think and are. Thor was abused by odin but he atleast could go to the bar have some fun and had kids modi and magni that KRATOS killed. Odin shut sif really quick he had a point, what they do it's their fault not odin. And he even let loki have anything he wanted in asgard but guess what? Atreus betrayed him. All odin wanted was a way for him not to die at the ragnarok, his soul can't go to the afterlife. Of course he would get insane plus his ex wife hated him.

@@_------------_ he was here to find Faye, yet STILL jumped at the occasion to force Kratos to fight him immediately. As for Odin bargaining for peace... pretty sure he wouldnt have made good on it. He is a control freak and would have stil tried to use Atreus for his own ends deal or no deal. That and he made his proposal in the most INSULTING way possible (entering uninvited and treating himself to drinks even though none was offered to him, compare that to Thor that waited to be invited him and served mead to his hosts (though Kratos made him keep the alcohol he served for Atreus) as a gift). Sure Odin wasnt actively seeking an open conflict, but that's purely because he would rather manipulate people to reach his goals, and kill those he cannot control. Like he did for thor, always discouraging him from thinking for himself and to drown his sorrows in mead instead of figuring out that Odin is the source of all low self-esteem. Overal Asgard was as peaceful as your average mafia is with odin as the mob boss. They may not be actively at war with their surroundings, but they keep it all on a tight leash.
