Thanks for uploading my Replay! I'm looking through some comments so I can answer some questions/statements that have been said. I tend to use damage control less than some mainly because I didn't want to damage con only 1 fire and then get 2 fires or even a flooding, especially in such a close quarters engagement with multiple ships with torps. Also, believe it or not, this was my first game in Odin and i got super lucky to get bottom tier. I opted to go with fire prevention, aft, manual secondaries, and super intendant. since BOS isnt additive but multiplicative, and since i had the flag, i figured i might get more usage out of SI instead. also didnt have CE which I have since changed having changed my build up. Also just to touch on the dmg control again, Odin is super squishy in terms of health pool so I felt extra tentative about using it, especially when it was on a cool down of over a minute. Looking through the replay again I can see that it looks like i don't know where my R key is and mainly what was happening was the Tallinn and Ranger were taking turns getting 1 full fire per but never 2 which I take to mainly just be lucky. Plus since I burn for about the same HP as a full heal, I never lost an uncomfortable amount of health and if I got hit with double fires I could have likely disengaged fairly easily. @@dzello Hard carry does happens when one player alone contributes so much that it dictates the whole outcome. rare occurrence of course and usually happens when playing a very strong or OP ship.

When bottom tier, it can be very rough for the Odin. When focussed, you don't stand a chance. It's armor is not half as good as they make it out to be. That was my experience thus far.

@@anubhavdassarma7230 Vladivostok has 406mm guns that are enough to pen any ship provided they are not bow tanking. You might not do as much damage when you are bottom tier but you earn more XP when you kill a ship that is one or 2 tiers higher so you might do as well when bottom tier. On the other side, Odin cannot even pen high tier cruisers that are angled.

When you're bottom tier as Odin you really have no influence on the game except for chasing dds out of caps with 11.6km secondaries or burning down bbs on a push from range. The alpha damage is just too low to have much of an impact and the low health pool doesn't let you get in close to use the torps.

Speaking as an odin captian with his fair share of the battles i have sunk 3 t10 ships. The kurfurst via withering secondary fire and he shells, a Yamato that came out of nowhere near me that ate my tops while I dodge like hell from his guns, and finaly the Goliath via broadside. But yeah I can say t10 matches odin struggles but if ya handle her right shell get ya through.

So, if Odin has torps and hydro, what is the meaning of Tirpitz?

Tirpitz also has Torpedoes near the centerline rather than far aft, so Tirpitz does get some slightly better torpedo firing angle relative to the ship itself. Odin pretty much has to show its broadside when firing.

Overall I'd say Odin is weaker compared to Tirpitz period. But Odin does have strengths of its own like having a smaller profile as well as some nice waterline armor which makes it better at range as a bit of an he spammer (at least in my limited experience) Odin is also fairly good at CQC but not necessarily charging. Because of the rear torps, Odin can torp ships chasing her almost from directly behind. I actually managed to kill a sims as he bum-rushed me and didnt think id notice.

In hindsight yes but at the same time I was never really on fire with more than 1 for a majority of the game so I felt like I should wait until there was more than 1 fire or possibly flooding.

It's pretty common: fire damage can already be prevented with both DCM2 and the flag, but the extra heal can also repair pens and overpens, and the extra hydro or fighter is occasionally useful as well. Taking SI instead of BoS means you'll take more damage, but also potentially heal more: as long as you don't get focused too hard you'll have similar survivability, but Dreadnought and Fireproof awards will be more common, so more flags, so more survivability.

yeah I wanted to wait for either 2 fires or a fire and turret incap or fire and flood. I could heal all the hp of a fire and since I was running SI (superintendent) I felt like I was never in too much danger.

Although in the right situation/hands Odin can wreak havoc, its poor alpha and low health pool definitely hinders its game influence. It also helps to fight against potatoes :)

This was pure luck... the ammount of broadsides he did in front of enemy with enemy team turning a blind eye or shoting HE and all the shots he missed at start... yikes... his team was crap tho... leeming squad as always...

Good strategic choice too when he left tallin to recenter at the hearth of the fight.

he did make some good choises such as disengancing the tallin for another target, but his score was entirely based on luck, he gave a lot of close range broadsides to enemy and no one bothered to punish him, with AP, and the enemy team wasn't really that good they didn't seem aware of odin torps and so they did nothing to avoid them or keep their distance he simply wasn't seen as a threat and was let free unpunished for the entire match until he ended up dieing and losing anyway. The only one who ultimately saw him as a threat was the Nelson near the end and ended up punishing him for that broadside, altho we all know how weak nelson armor is so he ended up winning, altho if the Odin was smart he could had simply sailed to right side of Sinop and torp him on left and then torp nelson on right while angling to both ships and suffering minimal damage.
