From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope."
What is the Twelve Step Model? How is it a "treatment for alcoholism" or "alcohol abuse?"
From Wikipedia: "A twelve-step program is a set of guiding principles (accepted by members as 'spiritual principles,' based on the approved literature) outlining a course of action for recovery from addiction, compulsion, or other behavioral problems. Originally proposed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) as a method of recovery from alcoholism, the Twelve Steps were first published in the book Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism in 1939. The method was then adapted and became the foundation of other twelve-step programs. Twelve-step methods have been adopted to address a wide range of substance-abuse and dependency problems."
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site (And as should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other 12 step program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.)
"Addiction treatment" WORKS! There is addiction help out there and "addiction recovery" is possible. If you are battling "alcohol addiction" there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her "alcohol abuse treatment." "Substance abuse" is a very serious condition. Many need inpatient stays or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with substance abuse issues. Help IS out there! :)
From the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: "Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny."

I think we can all agree that even if you’re not a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Sandy Beach is one of the best things to happen for humanity when it comes to helping those who still suffer. I don’t know about anyone else, but in my darkness, I found a way to step out of the dark and into the light through his words and blue prints to life. Thank you Sandy B. May you rest in peace

To Sandy Beach: I know you have passed but I feel the universe and God will be able to have you hear this simple message anyway. I just wanted to say thankyou - thankyou for all the things you did while you were on this earth for AA, thankyou for all the help you have given me and we have never even met, thankyou for talking about seeking God so often. It’s given me the courage to speak more freely about God in AA. The big book and God saved my life and continues to do so today at a tiny 6.5 years of sobriety. Thankyou for all the talks you gave over the years - I assure you they are still helping so many people. Forever grateful. Dylan 🙏

I am a member of AA in NC. This program has brought me freedom from adiction, joy and peace. Every day is now approached with hope. The God of my understanding has been and still is Jesus Christ. My problem was that I did not want to turn my life and addiction over to God. AA taught me that was a necessary step to recovery. I am so glad I took that step. Now there is "joy unspeakable and full of glory".

Sandy B. is on to something very important which Jung noted earlier in his correspondence with Bill W. concerning the role that the search for "ecstasis" and "spiritus" plays in the lives of many alcoholics. As Eric Clapton once said, when he stopped alcohol and heroin it left "a hole in his soul the size of God." That is certainly what I was thirsting for; not a blackout but union with the Divine in the only way I knew. AA as such does not fill that void, but is the best way I know for people like me to get in touch with the "real thing" that we were searching for all along. Call me an "AA addict."

This is real shit. I'm just 4 months sober and that part on God phenomenon is spot on. I'm not religious at all, atheist less and less nowadays technically I suppose lol. Before I first started actually working AA and reading the book the word god turned me off constantly, didn't make me mad but it was frustrating. I wouldn't be caught dead saying the word god, but as time went on "higher power" has just started feeling too broad and too weak a word for what I have experienced. Now I accidentally find myself saying god constantly. Just seeing how everything internally and externally has changed, has created a definition of god that can't be put into to words for me. Today I say I don't know what it is, but I believe in the existence of god, and where I used to think how can I, now I think how can I not. I'm still not religious but man there are amazing things going on in my life that came from something much grander than me, that I know for sure. I wonder what will come next. Great talk by Sandy beach, he a real goat.
