So if it’s so safe why are there so many inmates dying inside, and being beaten by the staff. Being starved by the officers, officers refusing to turn on body cams.

so many inmates die there with no justification why to their families or to the public it's crazy so maybe this was a case where the co was trying to hurt an inmate and the inmate won. Cuz one why would they be alone together long enough for him to kill him that makes no sense the CO had to have put himself in a position to be alone with that man and it backfired

You believe that correctional officers can only be killed in a riot? I don’t know how it is in a state facility but I can tell you from experience after working and retiring from a federal penitentiary that every second you’re behind the sallyport gates your life is at risk. We carry no weapons so we have two choices when being attacked…you radio for assistance and fight or you run. Federal officers work alone in a unit with up to 200 inmates or more. One officer per unit is the norm. There are only two officers that run the yard that can have over a thousand inmates moving in the yard and the yard is huge. Staff attacks are nothing new and they happen when there is no riot going on.

ODOC sounds like MDOC constantly under staffed and working 12 to 16 hr days

How was this inmate allowed to overpower a CO in a one on one or in any situation? If this was not a riot, there is no excuse for this outcome.

Their threats should have been taken more serious if they have a violent past towards the certain guard some of them single them out if he was trying to get out early and got a conduct report was made that would keep him from getting out early.. and I know this is in real life my friend worked in a prison and I've heard some stories.. if they made a threat he shouldn't be watching over them by himself! A prison with violent offenders should never be understaffed! Ever! If he was in a shack how did the offender get to him?? They will find a way to do what they want Someone failed him! Praying for his family!

I just think everything needs to be filmed when it comes to incarceration absolutely everything so everyone can be held accountable fully to the extent of their actions
