Buying a 6'6" Skipper was the best decision of my life. The Skipper is perfect because I can catch waves and have fun while I transition to from long boards. I can't say enough about it. It is so fun! I recommend to anyone trying to go with a smaller board. I catch just as many waves as I do on my 8 foot epoxy board, and the Skipper is much more fun.

I am 5’9 140 and surf a 5’9 short board pretty well. Would you recommend the 5’5 or 5’11 rnf. I want to be able to catch small waves a little bit easier but I also want to be able to maneuver the board in the face of the wave.

What board do you recommend for a 8 year old kid? Have some experience on 8 and 7 fit soft tops . I want to teach him to do turns. He is 4’5 feet tall
@CatchSurfOfficial3 ай бұрын
Definitely some good options for him to size down on and start going down the line and doing turns on would be the 5'5" Lost RNF, The 5'0" Odysea Stump or even the 4'10" Odysea Twig 🤙

Awesome video! I started river surfing couple of days ago. Can you ride these on the river? Which model & size I should be looking into (I'm a beginner)? I'm 5'9", 165lbs. TIA

Definitely both great boards for River wave surfing and a lot of people use Catch boards for it! The 5'6" Skipper and 5'5" Lost RNF are both great choices for you to shred the river!

I’m 6ft and 100kg, looking to move from my 9ft log to a shorter board. Would you recommend the 6’6 skipper? I figured it would be a good transition being wide with plenty of volume.

I'm looking for a board for the days when I'm tired. The 6'6 skipper seems good to me. Is it responsive and easy to maneuver ?
@CatchSurfOfficial3 ай бұрын
The 6'6" Skipper has a lot of float for its size and paddles quite well making it a solid performer in smaller surf yet still is responsive for it's size. Definitely a fun all arounder.

Yeah a lot of people like the 5'5" RNF and the 5'6" Skipper for river waves surfing! Another popular choice for river waves is our Odysea Twig 4'10".

Because I like my 6'6" Skipper so much, I just bought a 5'6" Skipper. I'm enjoying both boards, but catching waves on the 6'6" is way easier. I'm feeling quite proud of myself these days.

Awesome review. I was looking forma local shop in Jacksonville in the round nose fish. But after watching this video the skipper looks a little more fun. I am 6, 200lbs and beginner, almost intermediate. Surf varies from knee high to over head. I have a few nice longer fiberglass boards, a Quiet Flight Black Marlin with 38L. Was thinking I should go after the 6’ Skipper or 5’11” rnf. Really just want something fun. Don’t mind a little work to catch waves do pretty decent on my less floaty boards. So all of this being said. In the demo part of this video you ran out and skimmed into the water with the Skipper, fell and continued riding while sitting, etc. didn’t seem like the rnf gave the same performance. Would that be a semi accurate assumption? Is the skipper a little more playful or ready to go?
@CatchSurfOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Both are super fun and super floaty. Both also offer similar performance and many of our riders like both equally. I think the RNF has a touch more float and the Skipper is a little more pulled in. The riding footage was all filmed during 2 sessions so it's hard to judge on just that aspect. I think you won't go wrong with either.
@jacobmcvay1232 жыл бұрын
I’m kind of new to surfing but great at skating, coordinated, and swim like a fish in the ocean. Do you think I could start on a 6’6” RNF over a Log? I don’t really like the idea of a bulky planky board I can’t turn that doesn’t really translate to short board riding. I already have the Mayhem but they say that’s for more experienced surfers since it’s 53 liters over 7’6”
@CatchSurfOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can probably start on the 6'5" RNF if you already have some surfing experience. So the Catch Surf 6'5" Mayhem RNF actually has more liters of float than your Mayhem hard board so you should be able to get shredding!

Super good video! Ive been surfing an 8 ft foamie for around a year in half and have gotten pretty good at long boarding. I have been looking for a shorter board with more maneuverability and something I can go faster on. The surf here varies from knee high to overhead on really good days. Im 6'2 188 lbs. Both the skipper and RNF are similar would I be fine on either or would one benefit me more? Definitely going to buy one or the other probably the 6'0 Skipper or the 5'11 RNF

Hey! Awesome review. I'm 6'1 about 165 lbs. I've been riding a 6'6 for the last couple of years in LA and want to improve getting in late on bigger steeper waves so I can have more fun at winter spots. I'm thinking with less board it should be a little less scary. Trying to decide between the two boards compared here, but the 6'0 and 5'11 versions respectively. Do you recommend one shape over the other for steeper and occasionally OH surf? Also, are they generally duckdive-able? Many thanks!
@CatchSurfOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Both are very close and will definitely do the trick of what you are after! They both have 48 Liters of float. If you want a board slightly more maneuverable yet still insane for the tube go with the RNF and if you want a board for steeper waves and more drive go with the Skipper quad.

Ok first off awesome video clear concise to the point and loved that you showier you using them, 2ndly holy shit you’re good lol I just started only have gone out 5 times on a 8ft foam board but I’ve done every other board sport, pretty good at skateboarding wakeboard and snowboarding so I picked it up pretty quickly and ready to get a smaller board to get better control for turning, im 5’10 175lbs I’m not sure if I should risk getting the 5’11 or go to the 6’5 odysea, I wish they made like a 6’2 lol but I’m sure 6’5 would be the way to go huh im still learning I get up a lot but on that 8ft foam it’s hard to turn and control it and turn really well I’m assuming getting a more aggressive board will help with this but will also challenge me to get better too any advise ?
@CatchSurfOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Stoked you like the video! We would probably recommend the 6'5" because it's just going to be a lot easier to catch waves with the added float yet it's still a super maneuverable board compared to an 8'. The 5'11" will probably work too but it might take a bit more time to figure out when jumping down from an 8'.
