So Nietzsche thought the choir was one of the deepest parts of greek theater... Its basically like towns folk recounting on the events of a scene from afar. Where they have a full pov on the play within the play and so see events from angles the characters dont.... And basically it is our collective unconscious or the social order as super ego..... Its a deep form of art we know longer have.... Closest we get is narrators or breaking the 4th wall but this is of a different order altogether ..... What you are watching is how a community processes and regulates emotions and feelings.....(e.g. imagine your in ancient greece watching this play with the entire city - as walter benjamin says, it was quite beautiful, this collective catharsis and mythic aelf representation)

No we still have subtler versions of this: preminitions, forshadowing in prophetic dreams or waking events (where the fact that it is brought to attention might be an intervention by the collective unconscious, and probably other types of examples that don't come to mind. I do agree this is cool though, but I also prefer a more modern show-don't-tell approach, personally.

Wait so does that mean that Yu-Gi-Oh and other anime where characters in a spectator role are commentating or extrapolating on things as a means of both establishing scenarios not seen by the audience and setting tone and flavour by those characters’ perspectives??? Omg I always knew Yu-Gi-Oh was high art.

It’s the intensity, passion and dire energy conveyed by a simple unanimous voice. I’ve actually had the privilege of hearing excerpts in the Greek language to various Greek choruses at the amphitheater at Mycenae on one of my trips back over to Greece. Beyond any words!
