In "Gone With the Wind" Howard defended his honor to Vivienne Leigh, while married to Olivia. . In "..Bondage" he sacrificed his honor for Bette. I wonder if he knew how lucky he was to act opposite these pioneer divas. Three of the loveliest and most talented women of those times..

who hasn't had a Mildred (or her male counterpart) in their lives? 💔

She was such a force. And the sweetness of Leslie Howard, a perfect foil. In 'Petrified Forest' also.

Three Reginalds in the credits. Surely that sets some sort of record.

Excellent film version of the book. I like Betty Davis but her British accent is terrible. She keeps changing her voice throughout the entire film and it's distracting. But her character is supposed to be annoying so I guess that helps.

Jim Jardine he is intrigued by her behavior...she is not easy and knows how to handle herself...in trying to figure her out he falls deeply in love...she mistreats him because maybe she grew up being mistreated and is always on guard...very rare to see a strong woman and not the stereotypical shrinking violet or the man crazy harlot...I guess we desire the thing or person that doesn't desire us.

This first version has NO FEELING! The 1964 version is a masterpiece.

1915 novel by W. Somerset Maugham ,but if you're going to read anything by W. Somerset Maugham let it be ' The Razors Edge ' , the original movie is very good too not the remake with Bill Murray
