OFALA NNEWI DAY 2 - Ogogo the wine tapper

OFALA DAY 2.
This is Ogogo the wine tapper. Annually and at every Ofala he pays tribute to his Igwe Nnewi with the choicest of his palm wine. He delivers it in style with aplomb. The audience cheers as he steadies 15 liter jerrycan of palm wine on his head as he drives his motorbike meandering through the crowd. He sings and his crown supplies the chorus as he approaches the throne, greets Igwe with a familiar gesture before the Crown Prince collects the wine from his head. The palm wine is shared and drank by Nnewi people; from Chairman of Igwe Nnewi Royal Cabinet, senior cabinet chiefs, the princes to those present. We fear not that our brother could inoculate the wine with some “inedible” substance.
In Nnewi, all men are equal. We spite not the poor or the lowly. There is dignity in labour and everyone is proud of his profession. You brag with what you have and we understand. Food and drinks are shared in communion.
