There are threee factors I think are the biggest contributors , it's not hate towards women in a sense some of it is but most is masked in 1. Father absence , we have one of the highest in the world , the lack of that fatherly masculinity figure makes men more violent and aggressive and more prone to mental health issues , since most women are killed by their intimate partners it's clear that it is because of the breakdown of the nuclear family , something Colonialism and the apartheid system did for so long so effectively 2., men's mental health is not non-existent in sa and it's never spoken about . More men will suffer from mental health problems that make them more violent opposed to women eg Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia, ADHD their mental health needs to be looked at closely 3. Alcohol abuse, if you mix the above factors with a drink you have a very dangerous man , it heightens your aggression and removes the anxiety you have when you are sober , a lot of men use it because they don't know how to handle their pain and frustration other than violence Obviously personal responsibility plays are factor I mean there are psychopaths out there but a lot of it is trouble with anger , these men know what they are doing is wrong because they are aware that hitting someone causes pain but they are overcome with rage and rationalize their actions of foolish grounds because no one of great authority told them to stop
