On Big island we just measure length of horn
@sticksstrings97923 жыл бұрын
That's a good billy for hawaii, what's the length of the horn(not width)? Like pigs the difference in the hair is because of domestic cross breeding. Goats and pigs as well as sheep were introduced a 100 years before axis. There are pure untouched goats from genetics that were from goats dropped off over two hundred years ago, sheep that crossed genetics of feral and mouflon making for trophy rams and pigs with tusk that curl over, axis are at the bottom for me but ill be curious to see what you end up thinking. Blessed opportunity here, good luck!

Those goats definitely have bigger beards than me, beard envy lol I've always dreamt of going to New Zealand and hunting feral goats, red stag an tahr, I didn't know there were feral goats in Hawaii, might be a little cheaper than traveling to New Zealand. I think i would prefer feral goat hunting in Hawaii than axis deer, since i could go to Texas and hunt axis deer, but then I don't know what the population of axis deer is like in Texas, if it's more difficult, maybe more things to consider, there seems to be more than enough in Hawaii

I get THAT. When he asked what you'd rather shoot I said cows, more meat. In fact I was thinking that since there is no season or limit, someone with drive and determination could make a pretty good business out of selling mail order game meat. That stuff sells for BANK on the internet. Another thing someone could do is set up a business as a guide for trophy hunters. Any extra meat they don't want can be donated to food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and family and neighbors that need help. Wild game is a great organic source for pork beef, and goat meat in the area. Any business minded, or even charity minded, person could really make a dent in the feral game populations if they had a mind to, and help the island to boot. Unfortunately I'm too old and disabled (and far away) to do something like that myself, but it's a great idea and SOMEONE (many someones?) should take advantage of it.
@stoob8083 жыл бұрын
@@juliebaker6969 People here just dont want to eat goats. Theyve had bad experiences eating them or just cant handle the taste. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if Nick told em keep the heads and toss the meat, cause thats what most do.
@juliebaker69693 жыл бұрын
@@stoob808 hasn't anyone there heard of gyros? That's goat, and absolutely fabulous. Maybe the problem is that they're seasoning the meat wrong. Goat goes great with Greek and middle eastern seasonings, their seasoning mixes were created for goat meat. And don't eat the bucks, they DO taste bad, testosterone taints the meat. Try eating the does and kids, that's the best meat. Besides, you could STILL sell goat meat (not the bucks of course) as game meat online. And the bucks make great dog food, so there's never any excuse to waste meat. If nothing else, sell or give the meat to the zoo to feed their carnivores. I'm sure they would LOVE a cheap source of organic carnivore food. You just gotta learn to think outside the box. Don't dwell on why it WON'T work, look for how it CAN work. Stop looking at the glass as half empty, and start seeing it as completely full, half water, half air.
